How to Give a zip file via Autoresponder?

Hi fellow warriors,

Is it possible to include a zipped file in your autoresponder message?

In all my years as a writer I have not used an autoresponder and have heard so much about "it is all in the list" so I would like to start today building a list.

I have PLR content to give away to my list subscribers when they first subscribe but am unsure how to do this once they subscribe.

Thanks for any information.

Just upload your zip file in your server/host or use any online free hosting service, but that may ruin your reputation.. free never makes you look professional but it works !

    Good Luck!

Attachments trigger spam filters. It's best to avoid attaching PDF's or any other file to autoresponder emails. Best send a download link in the email to a page on your site.

LOL now I see these posts! I just finished loading a couple of weeks worth of messages into my aweber autoresponder that have the plr content in zip files (one for each week).

I can create a page on MyGhostWriters.com for this purpose. How exactly do I do this step-by-step please if someone can tell me?

    Thanks

You'll need to use an FTP software such as Filezilla & create a download folder in you public_html folder. & share those downloads in a new page of your site!

Hope that helps.. let me know if this sounds complicated!

As nytshade pointed out you can do this with FTP like Filezilla, but only if the website is yours, or you have access to uploading files to it. Does that make sense? In other words you need access to the cpanel, usually with a username/password. For small files (and if I'm uploading a single file) I find it easier to bypass the FTP and upload directly through my cpanel (I use Hostgator. They are very user friendly and there are TONS of tutorials online that can walk you through it step by step).

      Hope this helps!

I agree that sending an attachment to subscribers is not a good idea - many people will be scared it contains a virus and will not open it.

To ftp your file, just open your ftp manager and drag and drop the file from your pc into the public_html folder. The link to download the file will then be myghostwriters.com/filename.zip.

If you are not sure how to ftp, here's a video I found on Youtube

Hi Laura, not sure if i can help but I'll try.

Your main site myghostwriters.com is the main wordpress installation.

In the public_html folder you can add subfolders just like you might have a folder called "laura" on your computer and in that folder "laura' are other folders. E.g. Flowers, Cookies, Photos.

You would do exactly the same thing with your website. So myghostwriters.com is the public_html folder.

You can add any amount of folders in their just like you do on your computer.

You need to have access to cpanel or the ftp details for the site.

If this is not clear then just post a message here and I'll be happy to do a video for you tomorrow evening.

    Cheers

    Val,

MyGhostWriters.com is a wordpress site, how would I access the cpanel? It is hosted on Godaddy. I don't do it through WP, I go through Godaddy right?

    Richardjes,

If you can create a step-by-step for me that would be awesome and very much appreciated...thanks.

      Hi Laura,
If you use something like Filezilla and you have connected to your site, You should see your site files on the right and local files in the left panel.

Look for public_html, when you find it double click on it to open.

create a new folder and put your zip into that.

You then access the new folder by www.yousite.com/newfolder/file.zip

You can use the attachment option within Aweber, or you can simply upload the zip file to your website, and copy and paste the link within your email message.
