Ebook editor, proofreader, writer for hire ;)

Hello everyone,

As you may have noticed, I am a new member to the forums and would like to be on my way to a steady online income. The only problem is that I have no idea where to start. So what do I do? I make a post introducing myself and within the many replies I received there was one which caught my eye.

Someone who read my post thought I was a decent writer and suggested I help people with their e-books. I must say, I love the thought of being rewarded for writing. So here I am, introducing the idea to my fellow warriors.

I don't want your money! I just want to help out and in returned get HELPED! I am very new to all of this and can use all the information I can get. Tell me how you got started, answer some of my novice questions:confused:, or just give me a few pointers here and there. If you think this idea is a bad one, then feel free to express your thoughts in a grown and professional manner. Other than that, reply if you're interested.

    Lue,

It's a good post and a good idea.

One of the first things you want to do is have a portfolio of any writing you have done to show samples of your work. If you don't have any you might agree to write several articles for say 5 warriors at a very minimum price to start your portfolio.

You could even write several articles and post them here on the WF and let those who want to use them, use them. Ask them to post their thoughts about your article in the same thread you post the article in.

Just reading your post it looks like you could write a decent article. Please understand I'm not trying to get free articles from you, just a suggestion to help get you known on this forum as an article writer/editor/proofreader/ebook/reports/writer etc.

Also take the time to find threads here on the WF that you can answer a question or make a meaningful comment. People will begin to recognize your name.

Wow. Thanks for the detailed reply. I have no problem showing a few samples of my work but they would be non-IM related since I am new to this and frankly don't have any experience on which to write about. I'm working on one now related to car audio which would probably be the foundation for my portfolio. Are there any software programs out there that you would suggest for writing e-book and making them look presentable?

        Hey Lue,

The articles you write don't have to be in the "Internet Marketing" niche. You can write articles in any niche. Your "Car Audio" article is not in the "IM" niche. However, it is a good niche.

Now lets say you wrote a series of 10 articles on "Car Audio" that covered everything from "How To Install" to "A-Z Everything You Need To Know About Car Audio". Then you sold them to someone here on the WF. Guess what you have just become an "Internet Marketeer", you have made money on the Internet. In order to become a successful IM you would need to refine your skills.

Just as you learned about "Car Audio" you can learn about any thing and write about it. As an example you could learn about health issues, dieting, dog, cats, exotic pets, self-improvement, SEO, gardening, and thousands of other subjects.

Obviously there is much more to having a successful IM business, which is well beyond the scope of my post. But I think you get the drift. There are so many others here on the forum that have more expertise than I do.

If you are really interested in article marketing per se, you can check out Allen Graves WSO. Just click on this link INSANE ARTICLE MARKETING DEAL! - COMPLETE TRAINING, INFO & SECRETS FOR NEWBIES TO ADVANCED AMERS! That will take you directly to it. I have the book and it's very solid information.

There are many others but this one will give you a step by step understanding of using articles for marketing.

As far as software you can get a free download of openoffice.org. It contains a PDF creator which works extremely well for creating e-books with the proper formatting. It's a large file but it works very similar to Microsoft Word. There is no sense in you spending big bucks for something like Adobe PDF software.

I hope this helps you out and perhaps we can get some other Warriors to jump in here and post.

          Ken,

Again, thanks for the informative response. I do understand the concept you're trying to get across to me and will definitely get started ASAP. The only thing is that my "plan" or "goal" would be to maybe to start a blog that is based on the car audio niche which would include tutorials and articles on the subject. After which, I would focus on driving traffic to it, then maybe putting up some affiliate links and even sell my own e-books on it.

I know I'm am very new to the IM community but I believe that once I get that started it would provide some well needed income to finance my future projects and would also give me the experience to move on to bigger and better ways of making an online income.

My question is, would this "goal" of mine be one that should be tackled later as I develop my skills or would this be an adequate one for a beginner like myself?

Now that you see where my ideas are focused, are there any other e-books or information sources I should be looking into? I have very minimal skills in creating blogs, domains, driving traffic, and most importantly branding myself.

Hi! I think writing would be an excellent way to start earning your income online. I myself have recently started my own ghostwriting service, and have seen very good results. (far exceeding the results I got from creating my own blog and trying to monetize it) I think selling services in general does a little better than selling a product. There is almost always a need for a service, but that's not always the case with a product. So I would say get your feet wet, try selling your writing services, and keep your car audio blog something on the sidelines that you work on when you can... (it sounds like car audio is sort of your "baby") That way you can get some money coming in, and free up some cash to put into building and promoting your blog. Lyrical Content is sort of my "baby", but I don't expect it to make me much money for awhile, so I am focusing more on selling my services right now. HTH

Can you elaborate more on how you've started selling your services? What does your typical "order" require you to do?

                  Hi Lue,

I just figured out why your not getting many helpful post. Your subject line:
Ebook editor, proofreader, writer for hire
is the wrong headline to get more answers and more help form the Warrior Forum.

Your asking for a job with your headlines. Thats why people aren't dropping in and reading your thread. Sorry it took me so long to catch on to the problem.

Stop posting in this thread and open another new one with a subject of
Very New To IM And I Need Some Answers To Help Me Get Started
Be very specific in your questions. For instance the blog question on car audio. What books for starting in IM. Use this one
Can you elaborate more on how you've started selling your services? What does your typical "order" require you to do?
And any others you can think of. Be systematic in your qusestions. Limit it to say 4 questions. Then be sure and go back in and respond. Thanks them for their response. You don't have to it on every response, but do one say every 3rd one or so. But whatever you do name the ones who gave you helpful information.

At that time it will be ok to ask another question. Better yet wait a day or so and start another thread with another set of questions. This way you get very specific answers to your questions.

You will be surprised what good answers you will answer.

Also I forgot about mentioning a free book about the Warrior Forum called "Warrior Manifesto" written by Big Mike a senior Warrior here on the forum. It's a little out of date but the majority of it is still very much applicable. If you want it send me an e-mail knleatherman @ alltel.net or PM me here on the forum. It's a very good read and will provide you invaluable information.

Oh, yeah before I forget I recommend you change your username here in the forum to your real name. That is important if your going to market here on the WF. I think you can still send a PM to the Admin and ask for the change to your name. A lot of people here want to know who they are dealing with. However, if you want to protect your privacy don't worry about it.

As soon as you can get your picture up, a real one if have one. I'm having a new one made to replace my avatar. Just haven't had the time. Actually I keep forgetting to do it. LOL!
