Email Marketing? or Membership Site? Which one?

Lets say im a chef and I have 100+ unique recipes ive created and I want to start making money off of them, which would be better?

note: this isnt the actual product, just using recipes as an example.

Build a list by sending traffic to a squeeze page to opt-in for a free recipe.
Then sell the recipes in groups of 5 every week or two for $20-$30.
So every 1-2 weeks an email will be sent out promoting a package of 5 recipes.

or

Build a membership site where they will pay a set monthly fee to either get access to or emailed 5 recipes every week plus other freebies and info like the list.

Also, if the list is the better idea...is it better to promote a new package every week or every 2 weeks?

Thanks in advance!

i would say the list building method is a better idea. here's why; passive income plus you can always promte an entirely different product unrelated to recipes but within the same niche.

    as for your question regarding promotion very two weeks;
always not that you have to build a relationship with your list first before you consider selling to them. so, you can promote every two weeks once the trust is there from your list.

    hope this helps.

    Good Luck

Do you think building the list and building a relationship ...and then promoting a membership site instead of just selling them in groups would work?

Im thinking a membership site would be a good idea for me as well as the buyers because instead of hoping people will buy a pack of 5 recipes for $30 every 2 weeks or so, I will have them pay a monthly fee of $50 or something for 5 recipes a week. So Ill have a better chance of making money and they are happy as well because they are getting more a month.

Plus, Ill have the list so i can promote other things as well and keep that relationship going.

Personally, I think you could do both...have the membership site and when they become a member they get added to your list. This way you get the best of both worlds.

Now one thing you said doesn't make sense:
I will have them pay a monthly fee of $50 or something for 5 recipes a week.
I would pay for a membership that just has a member area full of whatever I'm after, but I'd be less interested if I was drip fed material unless it was some pretty worthwhile stuff. Just my two cents.

I was actually thinking the other way around .... Having them optin to my list first for a freebie and then get them to join the membership site.

I think I will have a better chance of the getting them to pay for a membership after a little bit of relationship building vs just sending them straight to a membership site to join.

        What do you think?

I figured drip feeding it would keep them members longer If I were to just fill the members area w/ all of my recipes...what would make them stay on for the next month?

Also, I guess I figured if i have say 100 recipes already and I drop 5 a week that would give me 5 good months of content already. Not including the freebies and whatever else I provide them.

E-mail marketing is a powerful tool to grow a business because it allows to target spefic customers, gather feedback and track the campaigns.

I would go for the e-mail marketing as it is such a powerful tool if done correctly and you can also promote other related products to an e-mail list where that is a lot more difficult with a membership site.

Would it work better if I charged a monthly membership price but instead of actually having a membership site...It will be emailed weekly only? So people wont have to go log into a site to download .... its just sent to them?
