Let me explain... I run a successful niche site and have done for 9 years. I employ 3 fulltime people and make a great living from it. We currently rank NO2 in Google HOWEVER This social media stuff is 'Hurting My Business' Why??? Cause I don't understand it enough! We have good SEO stuff but I really don't have a clue about Web 2.0. I have created a Squidoo lens and added a 'Addit' button to my site but apart from that I'm stuffed. I CAN PAY.... Can someone guide me as to what I should be doing? "I AM WILLING TO PAY" for advice - are there any good course, books etc.... or can someone help on a 1 to 1 level? Let me say I am NOT interested in a short term fix, spammin, using automated software. I want it done naturally for the long term I need to get more social content and social bookmarks etc but at the moment feel I'm wasting time. I don't know what order I should be doing this in? Thank you Alan |

Thanks for the reply. Yes we still rank No2 and have done for ages. All the traffic comes from PPC and natural SEO - we sell a physical product. I just know we should be doing some social content / bookmarking stuff. Thank you |

The easiest way to get started is to tie a blog for your business into Twitter, facebook and onlywire (for automated social bookmarking), on the blog have a plugin that lets people bookmark your content. Have your blog posts go to a Twitter account and share your twitter account with this forum in your profile. Have Twitter feed a facebook account too. Setup an onlywire plugin on your blog and create accounts at all the bookmarking places it feeds (you only do this once). Then you're set up and everything is on autopilot, so just post to your blog when you can - everything else will happen from there. If you get time to build some relationships on Twitter and facebook that make sense for your business - do that too. You can also use a service like piqq.me to have other people bookmark your pages for you, but your own pages will be done for free and automatically using the only wire plugin so you don't need to repeat that. You could alternatively use a service like TrafficGeyser which is paid but does even more. |

Thank you - I sell a physical product to a hobby niche. So 99% of my customers will search for it in Google eg 'cross stitch' But I'm just aware that Google really likes links from social bookmarking sites so I need to build up that area. But I really need good advice on what and how to go about it. Either via a course or 1 on 1 help... I need a masterplan to follow! Thanks again Alan |

Hi Thanks for the reply "tie a blog for your business into Twitter, facebook and onlywire (for automated social bookmarking), on the blog have a plugin that lets people bookmark your content. Have your blog posts go to a Twitter account and share your twitter account with this forum in your profile. Have Twitter feed a facebook account too. That all sounds great BUT I create the Wordpress blog first BUT then how to I tie it to Twitter, Facebook etc...and OnlyWire (Is that just like the 'AddIt' button?) Do I just then bookmark all my blog posts over time? |

Thank you I am happy to outsource - But I'd like to have a good knowledge of it as well so I know it's been done correctly without spamming etc... I need a plan of action Wordpress blog... Tie that in to Twitter, Facebook etc Bookmark my blog posts. What about Squidoo stuff, Blog pings, getting others to bookmark it. Most of my users are 50+ and not that into social marketing. Thank you again |

That sounds like great advice ... I only wish I understood what you said! ![]() I mean, people who are familiar with Web 2.0 probably understand what you're saying. But like Alan, I'm new to all of this Web 2.0 stuff, so I don't know what you're talking about. Is there an ebook or something you could refer me (us) to, or could you expand on your comments (above) just a little bit - like how, exactly, do you "tie your blog into Twitter", etc?! Thanks! That's fine but if says "I created a Squidoo lens and then bookmarked everywhere" I am none the wiser. I need a plan... WORDPRESS - Great but what software / plugin should I use??? How do I get that feed into Twitter, Facebook etc... WHERE DO I PUT SOCIAL CONTENT - There must be more places other than just Squidoo that are good for Google links. BOOKMARKING - How do I get visitors to use these 'social bookmarks' especially when a lot are aged 50+ and probably less sure than me. What order should this be done in. There must be some good guide - somewhere - surely???? |

I've done videos on all this stuff in the past for Warriors. To be honest I thought everyone knew this now so I stopped talking about it. If you're genuinely interested PM me and I'll dig out the videos for you. Quote:

OK, you're number 2 on google(for the keywords you are targeting, I'm assuming) so Google loves your site. You say 99% of your market searches for your product on google. Why do you think you need WEB 2.0 social media help? Getting to the number one spot with an SEO hired gun is what will improve your business. If someone here is trying to convince you to hire them to show you how Twitter will improve your sales they are just taking advantage of your lack of knowledge. I think you have the wrong idea about what web 2.0 is and shouldnt jump to throw money at someone who will waste it. |

Hello Alan, I'm actually producing a video series and report on this, as it's what I do on a day to day basis for one the UK's most influential marketers. PM me if you'd like to put something together on a 1 to 1 basis over skype. Thanks Alex |

Thank you - I feel you are correct since 99% of our traffic comes from someone typing in their hobby into Google. But I can't help but feel that I should be doing some of this Web 2.0 stuff, social bookmarking etc for the future. I know the old style of SEO pretty well but need to update my knowledge. To me this 'social' stuff seems like a waste of time (especially for my market) but Google seems to like the links. Wouldn't it be a good idea to try and get some quality social bookmarking links? I was also thinking about entering a new market like Jewellery - whereby some WEB 2.0 stuff might help get some traffic and get the new site indexed faster. I need to know of a good rough plan to follow to get this type of thing up and running..... Thanks again Alan |

oh and don't forget google bookmarks. really there are couple categories of "web 2.0" tactics. you have social bookmarking and social networking which includes sites like youtube and such. putting up a video to go viral could be considered "web 2.0" even. i haven't done much in the way of social networking sites yet. just social bookmarking. i wonder, would you say stumbleupon is a social bookmarking site or social networking site? either way, stumbleupon has been my #1 traffic earner, over google even |
