Hi,

This week I got 2 spam comments. Whenever I get top 10 listing in Google, I'll get comment spams. It is like an alert ... lol ... Fortunately they were stopped inside my WP spam box.

The numbers of spam comments are pretty low nowadays after using 2 plugins and engaging 1 service provider:

1. Akismet ( basically because a lot of people are reporting spam comments to Akismet's database . THANKS ! )

2. CloudFlare ( stopped bad bots from scanning sites for holes. Thanks ! )

3. Closed WP comments & replace it with FB comments ( great plugin ! )

Let me share one comment which I think is quite hilarious:

" Attractive component of content. I just stumbled upon your site and in accession capital to assert that I acquire actually enjoyed account your blog posts. Any way I will be subscribing in your feeds or even I success you get admission to consistently quickly. "

What is that ?! ... lol. .

So I would like to advice Warriors who are using comment spam tools to stop it. You won't get anywhere with comment spam strategy. No one is going to click your links with those odd comments. Your efforts are useless. It won't give the link juice you wanted.

So stop it and don't waste your time.

If you really want to have link juice, go visit popular blogs and give your honest comments. Be man enough to not hide behind those worthless tools. Be human.

PS : If there are WSOs selling comment tools & bots or encouraging spam comments, please report them to the MODs. Get them banned from WF before they destroy the credibility of WF in the market.

    Excellent post Azmanar!

Yes I do agree with ehat you have said and I too suffer the dreaded soam comments on my own personal blog. Some of them make even less sense than the one example you gave.

Thanks for sharing the plugins I have used some of them but not all so thank you for sharing those with us all.

Together we can beat the blog spam commenters!!!

    Hi,

Some people say, 1 dog year = 7 man years

Using the same sort of formula but different ratio, I'd say 1 PC year = 15 man years.

So my 3 years old PC is 45 years old. Another year, it is ready for retirement. If I continue to use it, it'll get burnt out by itself. lol.

Now let me put the ratio of 1 IM technique year = 30 man years. I'd say this assumption as logical based on what happened to most other techniques. It is like a passing fad or hype and dies down ever too quickly.

One of the IM techniques which appeared some years ago as highly popular is Comment Spam.

If my ratio is not rebutted by anyone, Comment Spamming can be said as already ancient, almost a century old, retired and ineffective. So no one should be stupid enough to use it anymore. It is defunct and totally outdated.

I hope new IM'ers be clever enough not to get themselves suckered into comment spamming.

I receive a lot of spam comments on my blogs but it's completely worthless because none of them make it past the plugin and get deleted very quickly.

Can't see the benefit of them myself, one would have to be really dumb to approve some of those comments. They are quite obviously junk and soon end up in the thrash

Obviously blog commenting has its advantages. It's pretty easy to delete the spam and when I use to outsource blog commenting, I made sure I used a top notch provider. I was always impressed with the comments made on my behalf and the comments did stick.

I can't understand why people would still want to use those spammy comment things these days.

Surely it would be better just to write some decent ones or just pay an outsourcer to do the same...

I wonder if they are still doing it if it means that it actually works ??

        mmm???

I wonder who would approve a comment like that on their blog?

I have a blog that is spammed literally every ten minutes and I made the fatal error of having comment alerts go to my email. On top of that, I had the bright idea of synching my email to my blackberry and now that's going off constantly.

Is my blog awesome or something because it gets all these spam comments?

        Hi Lana,

Blog commenting and comment spam are 2 very different things.

Blog commenting requires you, as a human, find some interesting and popular blogs. Read the articles that interest you, understand them, enjoy them and then give comments about them. The main criteria is to comment honestly.

Most bloggers ( writers ) are sensitive people, an attribute that makes them well aware of what is going on in their chosen field. Thus the quality of their content are guaranteed. They touch peoples' heart with their writings and they are trusted. That is why their blogs are popular.

With such abilities, do you think Bloggers can't figure out the kind of person you are and what your main intentions are when they read your comments for approval?

When your comments are approved, you get true link juice and a powerful influence to their visitors to visit your sites. That is what you get for being human and writing QUALITY comments.

On the other hand, some foolish IM'ers use spinners and submission robots to post comments to Blogs they have not even visited. This is Comment Spam. It is unethical, intrusive, waste of peoples' time and devoid of intelligence, thus ineffective. We trash them instantly. So what good are they?

In return for Comment Spams, blogs, sites, links, affiliated products, IP numbers and whatever are connected to the comment spammers are blacklisted. That is damaging in the short term as well as in the long term strategy for Product owners. They became victims of Comment Spammers. Even web hosting providers are affected because their IPs get blacklisted as well.

Even after knowing this, some people still Comment Spam, which truly shows that they are not only dull, but also very poisonous.

I'm not on a mission to stamp out Comment Spammers. But rather would like to create an awareness among new IM'ers to select other effective modes of marketing.

And if anyone finds any WSO encouraging people to Comment Spam, then better get a refund.

Well said Azmanar, spam hurts everyone and does not work at all. Google has the ups on it and it does no good at all any more. There are still however people who will have you believe you can get thousands or millions of people using spam comments to blogs with software and scraping, I will not mention any. There are some programs that help, but very few and you must use them wisely and not to spam wordpress, drupal and other blogs. I hope people get discouraged and finally abandon this form of useless internet choking nonsense but I am aware as long as there are people selling and telling them that it works and they believe it it will be used.

Hope we all will someday see a clean internet and useful commenting, we can only hope for the best.

Be a robot and rule the world .

Great point, but that the eyes that need to see it never will (and don't care to actually). If spammers knew how much better their efforts could be leveraged with real work they wouldn't be spamming.

Wow great post. I personally have comments disabled on my blog due to the ridiculous spamming that people were doing. So whenever i update my blog, only email subscribers get it and visit.

    Completely agree with you Azmanar.

In fact I recently removed commenting from my site due to large volumes of spam everyday - most were being caught in filters but a fair few still got through. Took way too much time to moderate it all.

Even the guest posting feature gets a fair amount of spam - but I'm fairly sure this isn't bot spam because they are "genuine" articles, if you can call spun and poorly written articles "genuine". Maybe about 1 or 2 in 20+ articles actually makes the grade everyday... which is an acceptable number for me to moderate.

Spammers aren't just wrecking things for themselves, but for everybody. Although I doubt they care.

Great post! I build relationships with others and have been for many years now. I don't hide behind anything. I believe that being yourself and showing that you are a real person makes others more comfortable with you and are more apt to do business with you. I don't like it when I get spammy emails that have no name and makes you wonder who sent the garbage and what are they hiding. I put my real photo on my blog and my name is out there on the internet. Yes, I really am Tom Bice. Be real with others and they will respect you more.
