How much would you charge?

Hi all,

I've had a few people request that I build them a website because they've seen that I built my own site. I'm not a web designer per se, but I'm very web savvy and I've taken classes in web design and I can put together a basic website for people who don't know how to go about it. How much would you charge for such a service?

Depends...I know some companies charge thousands of doll hairs to build websites but other build them free and give 30 day trials and such so it's really kind up to you

When I was doing web design for clients, I charged by the hour so that there was no chance of me working for free if it took longer than I thought it would. But I had gotten pretty good at estimating the time it would take in the beginning and rarely went over the estimate by more than an hour or two.

As for what the hourly rate should be, you'll have to figure out what's the going rate in your area and factor in your own expenses and your desired income level.

It's wise to find out what folks in your local area are charging. I would get the specifics from a potential customer first and then ask your competitors (3-5) how much they would charge for the project. Make sure you let your prospect know what the going rate is for the website they're requesting and offer them a discount to get started promptly.

We've been always giving this as an advice to Warriors who are asking 'how much will they charge' or 'what business model will they follow.' You can check the 'Warriors For Hire' section and filter those services according to type. In your case, select 'Programmers.' See for yourself how much they charge Warriors. You'll get an idea for sure.
