Frame Redirect - affiliate commissions

7 replies
Hello everyone,
This is my first post. I lost my job in January and I'm turning to IM in hopes to establish a stable income. I have been studying IM techniques here at the forum and through PPC classroom until my head is about to explode.

My question is regarding Frame Redirects. The first thing I want to try to get rolling is to do some video marketing through TrafficGeyser. This to me seems like at least a way to possibly get some sales coming in while I am trying to understand the PPC game.

So my plan is to start with one Clickbank niche product, make a video about it and direct it to a domain I have purchased. I read in the PPC Classroom about doing a frame redirect with html code. I know this can be done directly by forwarding/masking the domain, but that was not recommended.

The first one I am trying to setup is actually for Harvey Segal's Supertips ebook. I am just setting this up as a test and wasn't worried about adding my keywords etc just yet. I just put "make money online" for a keyword while testing.

The html code I am using on my index page for a frame redirect is:
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META NAME="description"
CONTENT="my domain url">
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="make money online">
</HEAD>
<FRAMESET border=0 rows="100%,""
frameborder="no"
marginleft=0 margintop=0 marginright=0
marginbottom=0>
<frame src="my affiliate url"
scrolling=auto frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
<frame topmargin="0" marginwidth=0 scrolling=no
marginheight=0 frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
</FRAMESET>
</HTML>

The frame redirect is working, but the stats page on the supertips website doesn't show when anyone goes to the url this way. So I have two questions about this type of redirect.

For a video purpose, submitted through TG, is it possible that sales which may occur through this type of traffic will not be credited to my Clickbank account because of the frame redirect? As in the site doesn't recognize my affiliate number or whatever so I wouldn't get credit for the sale?

If that is not an issue, my next question is, is there a way to put any type of tracking code on the index page with the frame redirect, which would allow me to track how many people click on the url?

I looked at putting Google Analytics code on the index page, but it requires being within the <body> tags of a page, and the code being used for the frame redirect doesn't use any <body> tags the way it is.

I realize that I need to learn to build an effective landing page and go that route, but I wanted to at least get some direct linking videos out there trying to market while I'm figure out how to do that.

Sorry the post is so long, I am really trying to grasp all this and I know there are some great people here at the forums. I appreciate and respect any input.

Thanks,

Spider

    Hey Spider,

    I wouldn't use a framed redirect for ClickBank. It violates their TOS and you're at risk of losing your commission. Just use a simple php redirect to cloak your links:

    Code:
    <?php
    header("Location: http://xxxxxx.merchidhere.hop.clickbank.net");
    ?>
    The hop link for the final destination should be visible in the end users browsers.

    Sure people use framed redirection with ClickBank but they're betting against the house and risking their commissions.

      Hey Alan,
      Thanks for the reply. So with that in mind, does that mean there is no way to get around having the hoplink show in the destination url without breaking TOS and risking losing commissions?

      That brings concerns about people stealing commissions by being able to see (and replace) my id in the hoplink.

      Is there any way to redirect without showing my actual id in the hoplink on the final url without breaking TOS?

      Thanks again,

        Not for ClickBank. Here is where they address that in their terms...

        Some of the other affiliate networks like CJ are the same. They don't allow frames for link cloaking.

        Framed redirects won't stop it anyway. All the thief has to do is view the source code of the page and they'll be able to see your affiliate link anyway. Cloaking will slow them down but won't stop the determined thief.

          Alan,
          I hope you see this message. I would send you a pm if I could but I don't have enough posts to do that yet. Thanks again for your reply. I just gave you my email for your Free WSO watch over my shoulder course. Very fascinating - and I haven't even seen it yet!

          Can you please tell me what software you use to make your videos? I love the way you can record the screen and have another video of you speaking within that video - that is just too cool! How do you do that?

          And how do I give you an official "Thanked" for this post? I just love this warrior forum - some great people on here - smart too!

              Hi Srikanth,
              Thanks for the reply. I am confused on the "thank" button. I don't have a thank button to the right of the "quick reply" button. Is this something like you have to have so many posts before that shows up? All I see are buttons that say "Quote" "Multiquote" and "Quick reply".

              And Franck, thank you for the taking the time to reply. I realize a presell page is very important. I'm just trying to get something out there in the meantime while I figure out how to effectively do a presell page.

              I am currently studying copywrite info and I want to make sure that I build an effective landing page with strong copy before I send people to that.

              Thanks again to each of you,

              Anthony

    You'd better use a presell page.
