New To IM & Need A Little Advice

Hey Guys,

I'm currently doing marketing for a company in Australia (offline), and I'm looking at doing a little online marketing to earn some extra income on the side. My goal for now is essentially, maybe by the end of the year or sometime next year, to be getting $50 a day.

I've written an eBook on a topic, but I don't have a list, so that's my number 1 goal right now. I have written up a free report and plan on creating a list with email opt in's.

This week I received a $50 Facebook advertising voucher, so I've decided to get my feet wet and just experiment with it. I know $50 isn't much, but getting 1 person on my list may be all I need to push me forward.

So here's my question.

My plan is to drive $50 worth of Facebook traffic to an opt in box to get my free report. But I've recently learnt that the Facebook timeline no longer allows landing pages, is this true? And if it is true, what are my options? I don't want to spend any money for hosting and a domain, because I'm kinda just playing around with this right now to learn the ropes. Is it possible to put an opt in page on a timeline?

So to sum it up, I want to capture $50 worth of Facebook traffic into an email list. Thoughts? Ideas? Give me anything.

Thanks in advance,
Greg.

    Hi Greg,

You can use Facebook...but not it's the timeline.

Essentially, you use a Fan Page as the landing page. Look at mine:

    joefizz.com - joefizz fan page | Facebook

That way, you create a freebie, drive traffic to it (Facebook ads for your $50) and then capture their names and email.

You will need a Fan Page builder:

Facebook Fan Page builder | joefizz.com

And a page on your blog/website to put the above landing page on it.

    OR...

You can an Aweber form ($19.99 pm...BUT essential for list building) on Facebook ... easy to do... and then drive the traffic!

    Hope that helps?

Good information above ^^. Your autoresponder is something you want to get right, right from the start.

if you buy aweber as your auto-responder, it wont be necessary to have facebook as your landing page, you could, but not necessary. you can have aweber host your opt-in list for you, its a little plain, but it does get the job done.

    thanks for comments,

Im still a little confused, isn't all facebook fan pages now timelines? so we can no longer fully customize them as landing pages? I made a little fan page trying to customize it to a landing page, and the timeline just takes it over so it's hard to make that call to action (to opt in) to be the first thing that is seen.

Update: So iframe pro is the way to build this fan page without a timeline?

P.S I have found a free auto responder called list wire, anyone have any experience with this?

      Hi again,

      Thanks TrustedCopy for your feedback.

Greg, yep, you got it! An iFrame will help you build a page on the web that is reflected in Facebook as a Fan Page...LOVELY!

      My advice for you is to invest in Aweber for 2 reasons;

      1. This will be the foundation stone of your list building...so essential to have a good reliable company for lots of reasons!
      2. You'll have to change in the future, so you may as well bite the bullet now...

      Hope that helps?

I would get an autoresponder yes, but what good is it without subscribers?. You don't have to go down the Facebook route either..... there are many ways to promote your ebook. I would advise a web page, maybe a blog to try to get subscribers here (you can also get them from your Facebook page) once you have many then you could pitch your ebook to them. Sounds a bit complicated, it's not, in fact I have just produced a course on this.....

I hope this gets you thinking in the right direction with a possible solution.
