Good luck. I just wouldn't quit until your online income exceeds your offline income. I know you want out ASAP (who doesn't)... but just play it smart.

It's good for a lot of people to work the day job until they can replace the income on a regular basis, before they quit.

How long it takes to achieve your goals in this business is hard to nail down, but if you don't give up it will happen.

So that day job will be gone sooner or later.

Great that you are looking for change but don't hate your day job too much. It will provide the stability you need to make mistakes with your marketing that could otherwise knock you out of the game.

Why are you waiting to be accepted into an affiliate network? If you believe you have a way to build your list then get to it. Use the time to find out what they want so you can present an offer they need and want rather than randomly swinging.

Yes defo hold fire until you are making money online first of you may be cap in hand asking for you job back! sounds harsh but that's the way it can go, so best to at least have some funds to fall back on.

And does so for enough months in a row that you can be reasonably confident that it will continue.

Thanks for all the responses! You guys are great. I've found so many ways to make money on this forum I really wanna show it to everyone I know, but first I'll do some trial and error starting this weekend.

Just have to echo the others. Don't quit your job until you're making more than you are making in your job. Preferably have some emergency money in the savings account as well.

Well I was making $8.32 after being at the same company for 3 years busting my a**. So you were lucky.

Don't feel bad, I made $9/hour at a job that I was at for SEVEN YEARS! Yeah, that's bad. Until I told my bosses to stick it (that feels pretty good)

Do yourself a favor and do not quit your job before you have not made a penny online. You need to get proper systems in place, then you can quit. Making 1600/mo is extremely, extremely doable very fast, so just make sure you are safe.

What people say about waiting to quit your job is definitely the best & most intelligent advice.

I'm still not sure if its "perfect" advice however.

The ONLY reason I say that, is I quit my job before I had an income to replace it.
But what happened was I kind of just "snapped" one day from the pressure I put myself through.

I quit my job under the overwhelming understanding that I would do ANYTHING & EVERYTHING it took to replace that income.

For 3 weeks I didn't work, or do anything. I read read read. I also missed out on a lot of sleep and was very stressed out.

I thought back to the day I quit my job, and asked myself, "where did that state go?!" That state of feeling invincible, like I was willing to put myself through hell and back just to succeed at SOMETHING.

It made me rather mad at myself, almost disgusted. So I picked up Bob Ross's mail marketing WSO, shut the computer off, and got serious about my life.

I went out for 2 weeks and sold every spot on that card.

It was a feeling I will never forget till the day I die.
I also question, "what would have happened had I NOT quit my job?" I really wonder if I'd still be bitching about hating my boss, being broke all the time, never being happy about my life.

I am NOT recommending you quit your job. It was more a judgement call and I just kinda believed in myself I guess after a lifetime of never believing in myself.

It had a potent effect on my outlook for life.
It has triggered a whole host of other positive experiences as well.

Trust me I still have tons of things I can get stressed out about, and sometimes I do, but the point is this life is just farrr better than what I was doing before.

I took a large risk, which I probably shouldn't, but for me fortunately it paid off.

Thats ALL I will say.
You can quit your job, and easily wind up in a worse situation. But I was feeling so much fear at the time I think in some weird respect I became numb to it. For a long enough period to make that "transition".

I still have tons of stuff I haven't accomplished, don't even consider myself close to the level other people on here are, but I'm very content, and thats something I definitely didn't have before.

STAY STRONG AND STAY FOCUSED.
I do believe you can achieve anything you want in life but I don't think you'll achieve a thing unless you actually believe in yourself first.

That doesn't mean giving yourself a pep talk everyday, it means literally shifting out of your old state of being, and into something totally new and different.

Just like that gatorade commerical says. Anytime I see it now it makes me ponder quite deeply.

yeh IM is still volatile and constantly changing. Like everyone else before me has said, don't quit just yet. IM takes a little bit of time to master. Build up a good bankroll before quitting.
A good measure is to keep your bank balance above your 1 year total expenses always.

Both ways work, you can look at the bright side either way. You can quit and work your butt off (and you will) to replace your income.

Or you can work your day job until you replace your income BUT be limited as to how much time you can realistically give to your new online/offline endeavors. (won't be much with a full time job).

So with that said (or written), you have to look at your personal circumstances and not just listen to blanket advice that might not fit your situation. If you have a (paid) roof over your head and can afford to work part-time, or find another job that works part-time hours (one that you enjoy a bit more/less stress) then that might be a better option.

Just weight your options and if you can cut back on meals/needless expenses/etc. Do it and you might be able to ease out of your situation before you know it. Working online is NOT easy so you need to have as much time as viably possible.

Truly, I work for a good company and they may be hiring me on soon, but still I'd much rather work for myself. I telemarket here at the company but I could be telemarketing some Web Design + SEO services and make a lot more on my own. It's a stable check, until I get going. If things really work out with CPA and solo ads and what not, I'd like to move out of Dallas for a year.

I'm looking to the future for motivation!

For me I have made a plan to quit - as soon as I did that I felt in control of my life. Amazing what a difference that can make. I still have 4 months to go until I quit, but in that time i know what I need to achieve. I have my goal and I am working towards it.
I am also assessing my finances to cut out everything unnecessary and build a few savings up before that day comes.

Yes, good advice above! I left my day job a few months ago to walk into a business opportunity with a friend and long story short, things didn't work out like we'd hoped. Now I'm 'that guy' struggling to take care of a family and cover the bills and it's a tough life right now! So work night and day to build things while you're still making something! Much less stress that way! Best of luck!

So many people concern about your situation here.
I suggest almost the same thing.
Keep doing your job while discipline yourself to learn about internet marketing without spending any dime.

You've got spend about 3-4 hours/day.
More is better.
Read all great threads here (i mean most viewed thread, not most replied one).
You must gain good understanding about how to start making income from internet.
Don't just jump to any opt-in.
Don't be overwhelmed and try any WSO blindly.
Discover your way in this IM world.

There are several basic yet most important skill you must learn and hone it every day:
1. Copywriting (i can help you by sharing some materials about this).
2. Set up a website (buy domain name, set up hosting, use WordPress, etc.)
3. Simple graphic design skills.
4. SEO.
5. Link building and understanding of how to get traffic.
6. Know who is the honest one in this industry, you may try SmartPassiveIncome with Pat, CopyBlogger, etc.
7. Ability to self motivate yourself and set up your mind to never surrender and keep going day by day.

Dont quit, unless you make atleast $2k per month. Plus you got atleast $16k in your savings account.

Why not do both for as long as you can? If you even match your current income, if you can upkeep both job and IM thats double the money!
