Here I am.. In the parking lot of my Day Job!

Lame! You all are going to crap yourself, but I'd like to let you know I make a grand total of... That's right... $12 an hour. Which means after taxes my paychecks come out to a whopping $405 per week. LOL.

I'll say one thing though. If Peerfly and / or Neverblue accept me into their networks then I'll be quitting soon. I have so many ideas on how to market offline some of these CPA offers... And build my list!

Wish me luck, I may get a phone call from them today at work and will gladly take it! Working for the man sucks. It's time to truly change and make life better and more livable!

Good luck. I just wouldn't quit until your online income exceeds your offline income. I know you want out ASAP (who doesn't)... but just play it smart.

^^This. The last thing you want is to be that guy completely broke and starting a thread on the WF about it. Wait it out until the right time. You'll find as you make more money online, your offline job becomes just a bit more bearable, because there is a definite end in sight.

It's good for a lot of people to work the day job until they can replace the income on a regular basis, before they quit.

How long it takes to achieve your goals in this business is hard to nail down, but if you don't give up it will happen.

So that day job will be gone sooner or later.

Great that you are looking for change but don't hate your day job too much. It will provide the stability you need to make mistakes with your marketing that could otherwise knock you out of the game.

Why are you waiting to be accepted into an affiliate network? If you believe you have a way to build your list then get to it. Use the time to find out what they want so you can present an offer they need and want rather than randomly swinging.

    Good luck!

Yes defo hold fire until you are making money online first of you may be cap in hand asking for you job back! sounds harsh but that's the way it can go, so best to at least have some funds to fall back on.

Do yourself a favor and do not quit your job before you have not made a penny online. You need to get proper systems in place, then you can quit. Making 1600/mo is extremely, extremely doable very fast, so just make sure you are safe.

What people say about waiting to quit your job is definitely the best & most intelligent advice.

I'm still not sure if its "perfect" advice however.

The ONLY reason I say that, is I quit my job before I had an income to replace it.
But what happened was I kind of just "snapped" one day from the pressure I put myself through.

I quit my job under the overwhelming understanding that I would do ANYTHING & EVERYTHING it took to replace that income.

For 3 weeks I didn't work, or do anything. I read read read. I also missed out on a lot of sleep and was very stressed out.

I thought back to the day I quit my job, and asked myself, "where did that state go?!" That state of feeling invincible, like I was willing to put myself through hell and back just to succeed at SOMETHING.

It made me rather mad at myself, almost disgusted. So I picked up Bob Ross's mail marketing WSO, shut the computer off, and got serious about my life.

I went out for 2 weeks and sold every spot on that card.

It was a feeling I will never forget till the day I die.
I also question, "what would have happened had I NOT quit my job?" I really wonder if I'd still be bitching about hating my boss, being broke all the time, never being happy about my life.

I am NOT recommending you quit your job. It was more a judgement call and I just kinda believed in myself I guess after a lifetime of never believing in myself.

It had a potent effect on my outlook for life.
It has triggered a whole host of other positive experiences as well.

Trust me I still have tons of things I can get stressed out about, and sometimes I do, but the point is this life is just farrr better than what I was doing before.

I took a large risk, which I probably shouldn't, but for me fortunately it paid off.

    Thats ALL I will say.
You can quit your job, and easily wind up in a worse situation. But I was feeling so much fear at the time I think in some weird respect I became numb to it. For a long enough period to make that "transition".

I still have tons of stuff I haven't accomplished, don't even consider myself close to the level other people on here are, but I'm very content, and thats something I definitely didn't have before.

    STAY STRONG AND STAY FOCUSED.
I do believe you can achieve anything you want in life but I don't think you'll achieve a thing unless you actually believe in yourself first.

That doesn't mean giving yourself a pep talk everyday, it means literally shifting out of your old state of being, and into something totally new and different.

Just like that gatorade commerical says. Anytime I see it now it makes me ponder quite deeply.

"If you want a revolution, the only solution, evolve."

Great comment, Red.. Playing it safe is not for everyone; it depends a lot on the mindset, personality type, and commitments/obligations that you have (family, etc.)

Personally, whenever I have wanted to quit something, I just quit. For me, there is nothing like having my back to the wall to bring out the best in me. No matter what it cost me, I would never spend one day longer than was necessary doing anything that I hated.

yeh IM is still volatile and constantly changing. Like everyone else before me has said, don't quit just yet. IM takes a little bit of time to master. Build up a good bankroll before quitting.
A good measure is to keep your bank balance above your 1 year total expenses always.

Both ways work, you can look at the bright side either way. You can quit and work your butt off (and you will) to replace your income.

Or you can work your day job until you replace your income BUT be limited as to how much time you can realistically give to your new online/offline endeavors. (won't be much with a full time job).

So with that said (or written), you have to look at your personal circumstances and not just listen to blanket advice that might not fit your situation. If you have a (paid) roof over your head and can afford to work part-time, or find another job that works part-time hours (one that you enjoy a bit more/less stress) then that might be a better option.

Just weight your options and if you can cut back on meals/needless expenses/etc. Do it and you might be able to ease out of your situation before you know it. Working online is NOT easy so you need to have as much time as viably possible.

Truly, I work for a good company and they may be hiring me on soon, but still I'd much rather work for myself. I telemarket here at the company but I could be telemarketing some Web Design + SEO services and make a lot more on my own. It's a stable check, until I get going. If things really work out with CPA and solo ads and what not, I'd like to move out of Dallas for a year.

I'm looking to the future for motivation!

I love coming on here and reading about people's experiences and worries. It matches closely to my own and makes me feel much better about things.
Doing IM can be quite a lonely business and sometimes you can end up doing quite a bit of naval gazing, which can zap your confidence.

For me I have made a plan to quit - as soon as I did that I felt in control of my life. Amazing what a difference that can make. I still have 4 months to go until I quit, but in that time i know what I need to achieve. I have my goal and I am working towards it.
I am also assessing my finances to cut out everything unnecessary and build a few savings up before that day comes.

I am so focused on that goal that nothing will stop me now.... Today IM tomorrow the World !! Ha ! Ha!....

Good Luck to you - Whatever you choose....

Yes, good advice above! I left my day job a few months ago to walk into a business opportunity with a friend and long story short, things didn't work out like we'd hoped. Now I'm 'that guy' struggling to take care of a family and cover the bills and it's a tough life right now! So work night and day to build things while you're still making something! Much less stress that way! Best of luck!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm ready to dive in full-time too but I just can't take the leap yet. I need to keep saving and marching on for awhile until I can comfortably make the choice to leave my day job behind. If you are seriously planning to ditch your job I do admire your fearlessness but I really wouldn't recommend it. Most companies don't payout commissions right away even if you do start making sales immediately out of the gate so you likely won't be receiving money as quickly as you do from your current job. Save your pennies and keep working until you start seeing some consistent $$ from cpa.

Besides, it will be much more fun to quit when you have had some success and $$ in the bank.

There isn't just a single answer to your dilemma. You've gotten a lot of good and heartfelt advice, some on each side of the equation.

You could continue your job, save your money, develop your business in your off hours and have resources with which to invest. This approach is fine, but has two potential downsides.

One is that by doing this your paid job interferes with your new business and because of this you never reach your goal. The other is that the job is so demeaning or demoralizing that it affects you mentally and causes you to fail where you would have otherwise succeeded.

Alternatively, you could quit now and throw yourself into developing your business. There are obvious advantages to this approach, but whether it turns out to be the right choice for you depends on the degree of success you achieve, and you cannot predict that with certainty at this time.

Weigh these two alternatives carefully, and make your best decision. Then make a realistic business plan and apply yourself to it with the best of your ability.

If you approach it this way, however it turns out, you know you made the best choice possible based on the information available to you, and that is all any of us can do in our businesses and in life in general.

Not quitting your job until your online income exceeds your offline income seems like sensible advice but you could remain in that rut for a long time.

Some of the best internet marketers seem to have got their businesses going only when their back was against the wall - the pain was sufficient to move them out of their comfort zone.

Sometimes you have to burn your boats and walk through the fire. It's not easy, it's not comfortable but if you have a strong enough reason to succeed, you can find a way.

This is not sensible advice but all business is a risk - 80% of internet marketers never earn a penny online and only 4% make a good living.

These are the facts - so you need enough determination, skill and persistence to be that one person in 20 that hacks their way through the internet marketing jungle to a better life.

Mark, when it comes to the IM/MMO markets, that particular "hero story" is one of the most used. If one believed everything used to sell these products, one could get the idea that the only way to succeed online is to get rid of all your stuff, burn all your bridges, and move into your car.

The key word in your statement above is "seem."

We never hear from the ones that failed, even though they outnumber the successes by at least 20:1...

You notice that whoever ordered the burning of the boats didn't consult the soldiers he was stranding?

You are right in that the 'burn the boats' strategy is not easy or comfortable. You forget to mention that it's often unsuccessful.

So which course is right for the OP? Only the future knows for sure.

One way he can get an idea of what he really wants to do is to simply flip a coin. Heads, he keeps his job. Tails, he burns the boats and quits. Flip that coin high, watch it go up, watch it land.

It doesn't matter how the coin actually lands. By the time it does, the coin flipper will know which way he wants it to land...
