I have been kicking around the idea of finding a mentor. I have some reservations about this and maybe it is because I don't really know what a mentor can do. I am hoping somebody and point me to a mentor or tell me if they think I need one?

I have been working at internet based businesses for about 8 yeara now. To date I have had ZERO success. I have dabbled in home based businesses, MLM businesses and countless others. I really believe that a person can make money and a living from an online business but I guess I just need a little help to show me what I am missing.

If you think I need a mentor or just a kick in the pants let me know what you think. I want to know what I need to change to make this thing work!!!

    Hi,

Everyone need a mentor...and you, too. Something, a mentor can really help us to see things that we didn't see before. Many peoples, lack of focus. A mentor can help us to be focus. They also helps us with goals. Goals are really important to succeed.

Mentor job is to protect us, lead us and push us in our destiny.

True mentor will tell us what we need to hear instead what we want to hear.

Great mentor will inspect what they expect. They will stay on you all the way. They fallow up with us.

Mentors are not dictator. They are advisers who want us to succeed without sacrifice our integrity. They will not ask you compromise good character to get to the top.

I made a post about this recently..

I have been working online for 4 years and I am making quite a bit and that was my downfall because I always said to myself that I didnt need a coach, I know how to do IM'ing.

3 weeks ago after getting some inspiration from reading think and grow rich I decided to get a coach and I have never regretted it since..

I know that the next few weeks are going to skyrocket my business.

My advice is to get a coach but choose VERY CAREFULLY.. When I first started IM'ing I got 2 coaches for $100 each and I got scammed..

Having a mentor is great. In fact, finding the right mentor is an absolute blessing. I say this because working online takes a lot of self motivation and guidance, and I think a mentor can help you with that. Also getting advice from an already established figure can help you avoid the newbie mistakes they made when they started the journey.

Again, if you do get a mentor, never ever take them for granted. Remember, it's a blessing.

Most importantly make a plan and follow it: find or better create great product, build website around it, start driving traffic and make money.

Mentors can be great BUT a mentor can only do so much for you. The real work is up to you. Focus, persistence and hard work are three of the biggest things you need to be successful in this business and they are all things no mentor can give you.

I suspect if you have been working in IM for 8 years and are yet to make an income then you are lacking at least two of those from above: persistence and focus. I can confidently say that because if you stuck at the one idea (focus) and kept going with that until you made it work (persistence) then you would have already succeeded.

There is no way you can possibly fail if you have focus and persistence. Even if you are flogging a dead horse by sticking with it you will very quickly find out what is wrong, adjust things, and move on. You keep doing this until you find what works.

A good mentor will give you focus and direct you. He will kick you up the bum if you are not doing what he says, but ultimately, Will R is right...it has to come from you.

I think we all need Mentors as well! We all have blind spots and if there is every anything stopping you in life you can bet you looking at something wrong.
A Mentor comes in handy with the personal growth required to get through our blind spots and help us cultivate ways of finding and dealing with these blind spots when things get good and when there bad!

I'd say having a mentor is essential for most of us, but, as posted earlier, choose wisely. Look for somebody who has a proven track record, and check for testimonials. If they've got nothing to hide, they'll have no problem providing you with verifiable proof. Of course, whether or not somebody gets results is dependent on that person taking action on the advice or help provided by their mentor, so there may be the odd complaint in there, but if the majority of people give favourable reviews, you should be OK.

Be prepared for a substantial investment depending on the type of mentoring you get (individual costs a LOT more than group), but the key word here is "investment" because that's what it is - in your future.

    Best of luck,
    Ray

If you have never had success online, but you still believe it is possible, then you owe it to yourself to spend a few bucks on a mentor and get some legit help. There are some good ones out there.

Maybe they can help you, maybe they can't but don't spend the rest of your life wondering if spending a few bucks on a mentor would have made any difference.

People usually regret the things they don't do much more than the things they do.

Basically if you sacrifice whatever you need to get a mentor for a bit and it doesn't work out for you. You will have only made a relativity small sacrifice in the scheme of life.

But if you think a mentor might be your answer and you fail to get one. You will kick yourself 100's of times for not giving it a try. Worse yet, you will continue to use precious mental energy wondering "if only I had gotten a mentor, would things have turned out differently?"

The mere fact that your asking this question lets me know you probably think you need a mentor. You are looking for validation of that being a good idea from others. It is a good idea.

Quit doubting yourself. You knew what you needed to do. You knew you needed a mentor, but for some reason needed others to tell you that. Just do it.

I think that the answer should be clear to you after reading your post.

"If you continue to do the same things, expect to receive the same results".

There are many mentors, coaches in his forum that would be willing to help.

Everybody should have a mentor. The cost is heavy, but the reward is heavier. Olympic trainers don't just tell their athletes to "go do your thing". The best of the best get coached. Ask Dean Holland

Not too long ago, I was in the same boat.

I'd been dabbling, on and off, with IM and making money on the internet for 5 years or so.

However, when you say 'I've been at it for 8 years', does that mean you've pursued 3-5 ideas to their finish (failure or success), or 20 ideas half-executed?

If you've really been at this 20 - 40 hours a week for 8 years straight and can't get something rolling, maybe it's not for you?

I currently have two mentors who make 10k - 40k per month 'on the Internet'. And, I can honestly say that a mentorship is likely one of the most valuable experiences you can have in life. This goes for any field, not just business.

These are my favorite (two) blog posts regarding mentorship:

      12 Lessons Learned While Marketing

You're going to have to hustle to find a good one. But when you do, it will be life changing. Don't give up. That being said - a decent job is a great way to keep the dream alive. Being broke and frustrated isn't a great position to work from. (I'm not saying you are - I have no idea. But, I've been there myself.)

Don't quit. But, you've gotta change-up your approach.

If you're a complete beginner or failed countless times...Instead of buying loads of ebooks or WSOs, find a mentor. Be sure to read reviews or testimonials first. Are they easy to contact? Do they have students who became successful? Do they give refunds?

Still, having a mentor won't make you successful if you won't take action. Btw, I'm a current student of Dean Holland. You can search for mentors here in the Warrior Forum. Look for threads regarding that topic. Good luck!

Are you motivated enough to actually do what your mentor advises you to do?

Are you capable of performing IM-related tasks or learning to do so?

Are you willing to compensate your mentor for his or her time?

A mentor is not a magic bullet. The main part of the equation will still be you. But if you do have the potential to succeed, I'm sure a (good) mentor can only help. I'd say go for it.

    wrong question to be asking!!

YOu should be asking, are you READY for a mentor...meaning are you just gunna pay and do nothing and claim with your arms in the air it is all too hard.

    OR...

are you actually gunna do what your mentor tellz you and get your arse off the chair, and get to work and try and make some cash.

If you fit in the no #2 above then you are ready. IF you are just excited and want a mentor but lazy and put things off till tomorrow getting a mentor will do nothing for you.

Ever heard the saying, when the student is ready, the teacher will come.

I need a mentor. You need a mentor. Your IM friend needs a mentor. Everybody needs a mentor. Someone can on Earth right before we were born. The sun shines on the other face of the Earth before we even get to see an array of light in the US.

The point is, someone always knows better than us. We need to admit it. Pride can't bring you food on the table. In the personal and professional aspects of life, we don't have to experience everything just to learn a lesson or two. We can learn from the lessons earned by others, which are our potential mentors.

I listened to one of the audio materials of Robert Kiyosaki and he said that entrepreneurs know so little about so many things. We cannot afford to know everything. We only need to find those people who know the answer.

As internet marketers, we don't have to know all the answers. Only employees should know all the answers for them to get promoted or for them not to be fired, at least. We're not like that anymore. So who are the ones who know the answer? Mentors.

You say you have been doing this for 8 years without any type of success? That just means your doing the wrong strategies. How hard are you working? You should definitely get a mentor but watch out for scams.

At the same time being in the forums is a very good way to get thousands of mentors. They're not going to be personal but hey its free!

well when i first started i struggled a little again I thought i didnt need a mentor and thought i could do IM myself, man was I wrong.

I was on the right tracks.... but my mentor put me straight and booom i started seeing results.... get yourself a mentor but remember you have to apply the work and just do it !!!! take action!1!!

mentors will only help you so much if they see your not doing anything they will lose interest aswell. Mentors want action takers so remember take action, and search around for a decent mentor.
