'Content Unlocker' Online Advertising Technology Increases Monetization of Content Websites - PR.com

I think there will be more + more of them.

It is a natural + unavoidable evolution.

More intrusive = more effective.

The intended audience cannot be permitted to ignore the ads.

Cheers(?)

I think you will need to have a web site with very compelling content to make use of this software. The average site would probably, successfully deter 99% of potential visitors.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

      Hi --TW,

This concept is similar to stuff like butterfly script - where you either tease them with a taster ebook or just a salespage and then get them to sign up to your membership site (for free), and therefore harvest their details and email address (opted in) and then have the ability to present OTOs - in order for them to gain access to the content.

One advantage of this is the perceived value factor of them getting access to a free ('normally' $XXX) membership site, as opposed to 'content on a page', plus if you're that way inclined, you can also use small print in order to extract further value from the physical mailing address, email address and (optional) phone number.

Plus, you have the viral element where if it was a site (EG in IM) where the customers are likely to be active affiliates, you can then present them automatically with an affiliate link to go off and immediately promote the site themselves.

These ads are appearing on regular websites -- and the ads are contextual to a certain extent, but they are not ads for the primary site the visitor is trying to access in the first place -- in other words, the intrusive, timed ads are for third parties.

But -- the online, 'don't you dare be intrusive here!' mindset will ultimately LOSE OUT.

Since 'more intrusive = more effective' and 'the money has to come from somewhere' and 'those with the gold make the rules' -- when you add (ad) it all up, you get more and more intrusive ads. The keystone to a capitalist society is advertising. The internet refuses to believe it, but if audiences are permitted to ignore ads, they will ignore ads (gladly). Yet, ads are what generate sales. And ads won't generate sales if they are ignored.

When you "save" a show on your tivo, then skip over the commercials when you watch the show, you haven't "saved" the show -- you've destroyed it.

Money wins all battles. Including the 'battle' over whether to be intrusive or not.

Contrary to what the net would have you believe, the initial spark that leads to the vast majority of transactions emanates from the marketER, not the marketEE!
