Computer Strategy Games Niche

While I wouldn't say I truly love computer games (if I won ten million dollars in the lottery, I think I would never play a computer game ever again), they are something I can immerse myself in. They do not take a large amount of resources and can be "mastered" in a matter of days/weeks. Playing and thinking about better/cooler ways to play is addictive. I can't think of any other niche in which I could spend lots of time working and not burn out and/or feel like a fraud bull****ing people. I can't think of any hobby or subject that I truly do love (and have the means to pursue) so this is probably the closest thing to "follow your passion" there is. The gaming industry is basically a hobby industry.

So let's say I choose to invest the resources necessary to get a decent machine (this one can only play vintage games). What would you say is the best way to go about building a business in this niche? My main interest is in strategy, particularly grand strategy games but if I had to focus on something like Starcraft II, that would be fine. What would you advise me to do/avoid doing? I know there are people who make good money in this, but what would it take to achieve that (let's say good means 3k+ a month, obviously not the first month but within a reasonable time frame)?

A little about my situation: I am unemployed, have no job prospects, am desperate to have a decent flow of money start ASAP and would have to borrow (more) money to even buy a decent computer (which are significantly more expensive around here). I say this to make clear that starting is not something I can do on a whim. I have lived with a very serious depression for over 10 years and gaming was one of my "coping mechanisms", which I try to actively avoid now because of the need to solve the actual problems in my life, without which I can't get any real relief from the depression. Obviously nobody can give me an exact plan to follow and guarantees but if anyone can help me see the bigger picture before I take the leap, that would be awesome.

I don't know what else to do to make money online at this point. I know a lot of things are possible in theory but I simply do not have the mental resources to do them at the level necessary to make them work. I resisted this idea for a long time because I hate the idea of being "the gamer guy" but I'm pretty much desperate.

Idea sounds nice indeed, but why strategies? I would suggest RPG instead, I guess they are more popupar, especially MMORPG.

Because I actually enjoy strategy. I don't think I could spend 40+ hours a week dealing with RPGs and not lose my mind. I could be wrong though.
