Generating Leads For My Partners Web Design Company..Ideas?

A co-worker at my day job runs a design business he outsources to his team in india. If I can get him clients, he'll give me $500 each. I can do whatever I want to get them and he really doesn't need my help it's more of a favour to me.

I don't know anything about IM and I don't have a list. I'm just looking for simple email, toll free number, craigslist type strategies I can implement (and examples) Anything semi-automated once running is good. Not only do I work full time but I use wheelchair transit to get around so other people run my life and I need to find a way to make $$ that frees up that time. I don't want to be a slave anymore lol. Thanks for any feedback.

I know this might sound like too much work, but the easiest way to get started in this type of sales is offline. Develop a sales pitch, grab phone book, or google some businesses in your local area (or another area if you want) and call the ones that have a bad looking website, or none at all get them to agree to having some information on your offer emailed to them and then follow up.

You can do it the other way around and email them first, but many people delete unsolicited emails so it's much harder.

Whatever you do, the follow up is critical, next to no one is going to call you back, and without that step you will get easily discouraged. This is speaking from experience, I ran a web development business for three years, and also have worked in B2B sales roles across various industries.

You will learn alot doing telesales and in the meantime you could educate yourself more about online lead generation and build up some profits to invest in implementing some of the systems you learn about.

One of the downfalls of rushing into pure IM is that if you have never done it before it can seem very complex and it is easy to get discouraged. But most people know how to pick up the phone and call someone, and the feedback is immediate so you can gauge if your script or delivery style needs work after only a couple of calls.

BTW, you could also semi automate this process by investing some of your profits into call lists, dialer software and a decent offshore telemarketer/virtual assistant.

You will probably find some great ideas in the 'offline' section of the forum.

Those guys/gals know how to get the sales!

    Good luck!

Yes starting by getting face to face with business owners will give you the best chance.

You can start by talking to business owners you already know, business owners your friends know and the owners of businesses where you're spending your money.

The good news is you can tell these people that you have a friend who is amazing at helping businesses make money using websites and the internet.

You don't know anything about it but you're pretty sure you can twist his arm and get him to talk to you free.

      Kindest regards,
      Andrew Cavanagh

This is usually done by picking up the phone and contacting the decision makers at businesses. Which, while it will require some practice and persistence, can definitely be done.

You can try post ads on craigslist or ask someone to post the ads for you.
You will get a lot of leads there i assume

    Hey guys,

I forgot to mention the key reason I want to avoid calling people. I already work as a telemarketer for a bank 40 hours a week! Any non-call intense ideas?

This one takes a bit of a budget and some trial and error to get the message just right.

A local hair salon once sent out postcards featuring photos of strange haircuts, from bad DIY attempts to the truly wild. Above the photo was the headline "We Fix Ugly Haircuts". On the back was a two-sentence message (can't recall the wording) along with a discount or premium offer if the person brought in the post card. Full contact info. Very simple.

In today's terms, such a postcard would cast around $0.50 plus list acquisition. Figure around $0.75 per address, including the card. At $500 per lead, your breakeven response is ~0.15% or one in every 667 cards sent.

If nothing else, this should give you some ideas...

I am into web design customer acquisition as well. I have been using highly targeted niche industries & their decision makers emails.. and send a very customized email pitch depicting their website shortcomings and what I could do for them.

I am getting fantastic results so far (since a couple of years). I am sure you could get averagely 5 Leads per day if not more, following my methods. That too with very little work and infrastructure. Just focus on 3 things, their pain area, how you can help, and getting your message delivered.
