Newbie Looking To Build Wordpress Amazon Affiliate Sites

I have heard Google loves wordpress and I am stuck on the idea of finding exact match domain names via keyword research and building top ranking small 3-5 page sites? My question is, is that concept dead? I have read tons of testamonials saying "I make $200/month off my sites, and I have 20 of them, you can do it too"

If someone can give me a snapshot of the challenges they have faced in building niche sites or things I should know that would be great. I'm also curious to hear what your very first niche site was and whether you succeeded or failed and why?

Thanks Warriors!

I do not believe the idea is dead. Actually the founders of "Bring The Fresh" WSO and also the founder of Traffic Travis were talking about this in a webinar not even 6 hours ago.

From what they said, they were targeting keywords around 1,000-10,000 local searches and ranked them with seo articles and a few, if any, backlinks. Some of the keywords ranked on their own. Also they found exact match keyword domains.

If I can offer one piece of advice -- get started now. Build the website right now and do what you know how to do. Ask questions along the way and keep working at it.

    Good Luck!
    Steve

This is a dying strategy. These are EXACTLY the kinds of sites that Google would be happy to see disappear. Even if the strategy does work today, do you really want to build your business on something that is not viable in the long term?

    HI,
Keywords play a big deal in online traffic today. That's for sure.
If you go thro' my twitter details, you'd find a comment on google 1st page.
That's one of my articles occupied 5 of the 10 articles in google's 1st page on the day it was published.
I believe that keywords need some understanding & when you do it correctly, you'd get huge traffic.
    All the best

Google still puts some weight on exact match domains, but this does not work as effectively as it once did.

If you are going to go ahead with this business model make sure that all content is unique and engaging.

Also, stay away from amazon plugins that are known to pull product listings directly from the site.

When building backlinks, do not build more than 100 per day to the site and make sure that you mix things up in terms of both anchor text and type of platform the backlinks are coming from.

I believe that Kelly Felix's approach to building small niche sites and making a few hundred with each one is a viable idea and can be scaled up as far as you want to take it. The techniques and strategies he teaches are real and more then many of the so called Guru's want to share for sure as I am aware first hand.

The knowledge learned in Bring The Fresh is really a gold mine of nuggets that every IMer needs to continue to succeed online. That's my 2Cents.

    • I started my internet marketing career with Bring The Fresh, and am also a paying customer of Project Profits.

If you are interested in the idea of making small niche sites, I definitely recommend checking out Bring The Fresh.

I started out with a website in the "gender prediction" niche, I was originally selling an amazon product for 4% commission, but then I was contacted by the product company to promote their product directly for 50% commission, to say the least it worked out great and Bring The Fresh helped me start it.

As Steve Tanabe said, start working now and ask question along the way! Taking action is the true key to success.

I build websites that are similar to what you're describing. The difference is that I EXPAND the sites that prove to be profitable. The mini-site is more of a test to see if you've discovered anything worth pursuing. If it's making decent money with only a few pages of content, imagine how much more you'll make by adding hundreds of additional pages.

The benefits of this approach are two-fold.

    1. You don't waste a significant amount of time or money on a worthless niche

    2. The constant update of content will help your search engine rankings

I think we all need back to nature method. First, do keyword research for your domain name and on-page SEO optimization. Then, do regular maintenance like off-page SEO and make a good marketing strategy (using ads or forum)..

I am sure whatever our niche (adsense, affiliate, product selling, etc) will give us huge money. Maximal effort will give maximal income too.
