Since this is your first time, no need to go with costly package. You can get that $3.96/month package..or if you want cheaper, go to lovinghosting.com and pick that $2/month...

If you are going to add additional domains in the future, I would suggest you to get baby plan. The $3.96/month package only allows you to place a single domain in your account.

As Techgeek mentioned above the Hatchling plan from Hostgator is only for a single domain.

The Baby plan is for unlimited domains and is pretty cheap too.

I'd opt for the Baby plan.

In my opinion the support from Hostgator is really good too. They've always been really helpful when I've had to contact them.

      Hope this helps.

Yes start with the cheap plan. You can upgrade at any time. No point in spending the money when you don't need the service.

For me, I have a baby plan. And I use for my entire business 'empire', if you will. Unlimited domain, unlimited bandwidth. The only problem you may encounter is if you have more than 25 emails running at a a time. Each email is a 'process' and not more than 25 can run at a time. So, only there would you have any problems.

And I LOVE their support. They helped me with hackers, install forums on root domains where there was problems with code etc.

Baby Plan at HostGator, just don't be afraid to contact their support and tell them exactly what you want to do, or when there are any issues.

My experience is that their help FAQ and support pages contain not so correct information sometimes, i.e. shared SSL and also there are certain things you have to discuss when running WP plugins... other than that - I use HG extensively

The Baby plan is what you need if you want to host more than one domain on your hosting account. If you need to setup a shopping cart for your website and require a private SSL and dedicated IP address then you should look into Hostgator's Business plan. But otherwise go with the Baby. Best of luck to you

If you are new to hosting, I would also suggest staying with Hostgator for the time being. Otherwise if your domain is purchased through them, you will have DNS to deal with which can be daunting for new users. Best of luck.
