Made my first money today!

INTERNET MARKETING

21 days in, made my first money from Adsense on my first site today. Have to say after all the slog it feels good, even if its only enought to buy me a bar of chocolate - trouble is, my blog is about how I lost weight last year (www.howilostweight.co.uk) so it would be kinda ironic if I put on pounds as a result of the money earnt from the blog!! Ho hum..! Oh and have gone up to No 7 on page 1 of Google for my key words, though - and this will make you laugh (makes me cry!) - when I first started out on this journey I researched the key words very hard but forgot to search the actual competition on the key words, only to find that one of the most famous bloggers in the world (it would appear) has the number 1 spot - somehow don't think I will be knocking him off the top for some time!! As they say, you live and learn!!

Congrats buddy...

The thing is... it may only be a small sale, BUT you have done what millions of people want to be able to do and that is earn the first little sale online... just keep learning and duplicate what you have done.

The weight loss niche is a biggy but it does take some work to get it making good money, I chose a niche that is growing and make on average $800 a month from one site and one product and I am predicting it will keep growing as time goes on.

One thing I want to tell you is NEVER assume what you can NOT accomplish. You'd be very surprised what you can actually accomplish when you put your mind to it.

As for the blog, congrats on your first bit of money!

However, & this is not bad news, but good news. The blog looks rather drab. Therefore, you still have room for A LOT of improvement.

Keep working on the content, make the blog look more authoritative. Take that header picture out immediately, its easy to do. A squirrel chewing a nut is cute, but has nothing to do with losing weight. Unless your diet consists of living soley on nuts.

I would personally give the whole blog a make over, promote it a bit more, then see how your adsense does. =]

Thank you everyone for your kind words. And you are right, the blog does need a revamp to make it more - I must admit that I just went in there with standard Wordpress theme and changed the picture to a cute one my father-in-law took, but will go and find a more suitable one. Would quite like to change the Wordpress theme but worried if i do so I will lose all my customised stuff (eg all the Google, Norton validation code, sitemaps etc) - is this the case?

Awesome how supportive everbody is here. I have to admit the only money I've made online is from bum marketing. lol. I'm still struggling to bring it in consistently. But reading this thread has giving me a bump on the chin. Which methods have you guys found the easiest to start bringing in money. I'm attempting to get some fitness products out on the net... but I guess people like free much better so adsense makes more sense to me since people are simply joy reading and are not asked to purchase things. Getting paid for people just to visit and click a couple times. Is it practical to expect to be able to become independent financially through adsense?

Who know's you just might knock him off the top. Super Congratulations on the first earnings. I wouldn't buy a chocolate bar with the first money, seems like it would be bad juju given what your website is about.

Nice site by the way, but I would have to say that I think the header should loose a bit a weight as well. Excellent design but it's a bit too big. Again Awesome job!

Congrats buddy! If you are on page 1, hopefully you are getting some traffic... Why don't you add an optin form/squeeze page on your blog and start capturing leads.... I am sure it will be far more rewarding then just earning from adsense clicks
