Would you guys charge your 'Offline' Clients for this?

Hey everyone

I have been doing some researching in my local area and planning my offline strategies and I am amazed at how many of the local businesses in my area do not have their sites listed with Google's "Local Business" thing. I don't know what it is called but I am sure you guys know what I mean.

You know when you type in "restaurants+yourtown" and at the top of the page is shows a map with Local Businesses sites.

That is what I am talking about.

Is this a service I could charge my local business clients?

How would you get their businesses listed like this?

I am sure google probably has a step by step system or I could go on youtube to find out.

But more importantly I was wondering if anyone charges for this and how much do you charge?

Would it be a part of an SEO package or a stand alone service?

Thanks

Shane_K

As far as the type of service, I think it could work either way. It might be nice to offer it as an introductory offer to your new business clients and when they see the difference that makes to their business trends then you could offer the SEO and stuff.

      Hi Shane,

Check out the other "offline" threads to find out the MANY different ways people are earning using the Google Maps method.

Briefly.... if you want to earn, say $ 25 quickly offer a " top of Google place " & give them a GoogleMap entry.

Or if more ethical say "for free I'lll give you a top place in Google" for free & we can discuss (for a LARGE fee) ways of keeping you ahead of your (local) competition.

      Onward & Upward ....

I like that idea. Throw it at them as a super-cheapie just to get their attention. Long term, there's not going to be much money in that strategy, but it could help you gain some new clients who need other work done that you can charge a LOT more for.

    Hi Shane,

Good question and a great opportunity for us offliners!

I usually use it to over deliver, I dont charge extra. It is part of my SEO package that I offer to offline business owners and I also add them as an added bonus. What then happens 9 out of 10 times is the business website I am promoting has 2 positions on the top page. I sold 1 position, so this is always nice to show the client once achieved. Great to add to your overdelivery!!!

You can charge clients for any type of "service" as long as it saves them time from doing it themselves or learning it on their own.

The same holds true for online markets as well.

Keep in mind that you can't always *guarantee* that your client will make it into the 10 pack. If your client is based in a small city and does business only in that city, it can make a lot of sense to promote this as a strategy. But, before you do, check out who is in the 10 pack. If all 10 postings are in the city in question, you're going to have to knock someone out.

Also, you should know that there are a variety of factors that go into Google local maps listings. For instance, being listed with infoUSA and Yelp help. Also, I've heard having a website listed and filling out the Google listing as completely as possible (including operating hours) can help.

      But..........

One of the most important factors is distance from the city center. So, a less well optimized entry that is closer to the city center may rank higher than your company (or knock them off altogether). I believe that Google will fix this in the future, but right now, it's something to consider.

As far as pricing, I've worked with a couple of clients on this specific deal and charged $395. This includes all of the backlinks to the Google Maps sites on relevant pages including yellow pages (there are about 15 of them).
