So what's your take on this...,

Greetings Warriors,

I suggested to my Boss that we should include Social Media Management as one of our services. However, this is his reply:

I have not brought that up because I have no idea how to use social media to attract business. I hear other people trying to use it, but I have not heard of too many success stories, and I have no idea how the successes used it to generate business.

Are you with him?

Please let me hear your thoughts about this.

All The Best,
G.B.

    I kind of agree with you... The problem today is if people are not familiar with something they are afraid of it. My take on Social Media is it is simply another form of communication, kind of like when email first came out people were afraid to use it but now even phones have the capabilit to email because it has become an important business tool

    It sound like your boss is old school as such and doesn't actually know how SM works, if it is done correctly it is very powerful as most know who use it... it is about building communities like the WF, and let's face it Zuckerber knows the power of it as most people use it to communicate.

    I know in the company I work for they have gone all SM because it bridges the gap between a big corporate image and the general client who can connect with the corporation on an even level.

    Just my thoughts....

    What does anyone else think?

    Is it all overated?

    It works well for three purposes:

    1. Branding;
    2. Direct Interaction with Customers;
    3. In the Local Market, Driving Sales on a Special Deal.

    Don't overlook that Local Market, if you have offline clients with physical locations.

    Take a look at some other bigger companies. While PacSun may be going under, my wife has 'liked' them on facebook and they post stuff all the time. Random images, funny stuff, questions, etc. Its forms a relationship and keeps an active community.

    Social media is not the be all and end all, but its a tool for businesses to use! its kinda like your boss saying theres no need for advertising in local papers!!..........theres plenty of tolls out there to promote and interact with potential or existing clients, and any business would be foolish not to make the most of any tool available!

    Social media for pure profits may not be there, but to stay in touch and build relationships with potential customers is where your strategy will lie. I personally would lead everybody to my webpage - but i'm a 1-man operation.

    At your job if you have multiple co-workers, they can put in the social work for you while you focus on something else.

    The least I can do is to click the "Thanks" button for you each.
