Displaying 1 post on Wordpress site

How do you enable the wordpress blog to not display all the posts on one page as they typically do so that you can put your main post on the domain and have the others on the side just for content's sake? I'm intending to give away a free ebook to get them to opt in and then take it from there.

You can make it a static site and create another page for the blog. The front page will always be the same and people have to click on the blog to go to other articles. Go into your general settings to find this.

There are a number of ways you can do this.

As robin said you could make it a CMS and have the front page as static.

Secondly you can now make a post sticky in version 2.7 so it always will be on top.

Lastly you could go to your settings and reading and just change the number of posts to 1.

Quentin beat me to the punch. The sticky feature in the Wordpress is a nice way to do this.
