Go look at the top 10 in the niche you're specifically looking for based on their gravity. Read the sales page or watch the video. Find which one attracts you the most. Find the one that would have the highest chance of converting you. Pick that one.

That doesn't necessarily mean it will convert with my traffic. I've had Clickbank products where I've sent 1,000 clicks to the sales page and didn't make not one sale and it was in the top 10 with the highest gravity while other Clickbank products I've made a sale or two out of 150- 200 clicks with the same traffic.

Sure. Nothing is guaranteed. Otherwise we'd all be sipping margaritas on the beach right now. I think for someone beginning, though, it's more likely to find some success promoting popular, searched for products compared to ones in which no one has ever heard of.

I'm not beginning, I've been in the game for 3 years now.

i've used mack michaels several times and had good results, both with his maverick money makers and with millionaire society.

coffee shop millionaire also worked pretty well, as did bring the fresh.

those are some of my top picks.

What I don't understand is how these guru's sales pages are supposed to convert like gangbusters yet I can only get a sale from most of these top 10 products out of luck.

Because those who are making a lot of money with these products aren't converting them with cold traffic, which is what you're trying to do. The vast majority of super affiliates sell to those who are on their list or have some other type of relationship with them. Cold traffic is rarely going to sell information products as well as traffic that already knows, trusts, and likes you.

I first got involved with Internet Marketing from cold traffic. I saw an ad on MySpace back in June 2009 directing to Maverick Money Makers, I liked what I saw and decided to purchase. I've been in affiliate marketing ever since. None of the products that sold easy with cold traffic are available anymore which stinks and now I have to find a Clickbank product that does. The
long letter sales page's doesn't covert with my traffic and I don't want to send my traffic to a sales page with an email opt-in after they just signed up to my
        squeeze page.

I'm not saying cold traffic doesn't work at all; I'm simply stating there are better ways to do things that will make you a lot more money, and considering the majority of super affiliates make their living primarily through email marketing, there is a lot to be said for their methods.

Also, there are A LOT of high-converting products on CB which don't have an opt-in on the sales page or a "commission leak" of any kind.. I would suggest looking for those, or even try emailing the vendor of these high-converting products and asking if they have sales pages available without an opt-in. Some do, and will be happy to accommodate your needs.

Where do you recommend I get my traffic from? Currently I have about 520
people on my list and so far I've made more money without building a list than sending it directly to a sales page. And every time I send a broadcast to my list I only get 20-30 clicks, it seems like more of a money waster than anything investing into a auto responder.

To be blunt, you aren't having success with list building because you aren't doing it right. I won't start a diatribe about how to take care of your list because not only am I still learning a lot, but there are a million threads a day about that, so a little searching around the forum can do you a lot of good with that aspect of things.

In terms of traffic, there are A LOT of great places to get quality traffic from.

For instance, I have one list which has been built entirely with low-cost, highly-targeted facebook ads and they have been very responsive. Another one of my lists was built entirely from youtube videos where I filmed actual videos about the niche (no slideshows or stolen footage or any of the "lazy" stuff a lot of people are doing right now), and then put them up with a link to my squeeze page in the description box (all of the videos also have a call-to-action towards the end as well, i.e. "If you want to know more about ________, then click the link below because you'll discover _________"). This list is also surprisingly responsive.

With all of that said, if you're dead-set against list-building and want to continue with direct linking, then you are going to have to do a lot of sales page testing or figure out another way to gain some "authority" in your niche so people trust your recommendations.

I don't send people on my list emails that often, I send them about an hour in video traffic, traffic tips, etc than an email to a sales page and still only get 20-30 clicks. I may only send an e-mail once a week or once every two weeks.
I'm not sending my list offer after offer day in day out.

Pick an IM product that has a really strong sales letter. That's what prospects will see before they buy anything. Can't find anything on Clickbank with good sales copy?

Nope not really I've probably tried 20-40 different clickbank products with high gravity and Fast Cash Commissions (which is gone now) and Tycoon Cashflow (which is also gone) where the only products that converted for me consistently with my traffic.

Or pick a product with a massive discount like Lee McIntyre's Instant Internet Lifestyle or Internet Automation Plan

They used to sell for something like $500 and he is selling them for a few $'s.

Or survey your list and ask them what their needs are
