Our first launch did just over 1500 units on the FE...

...But didn't try and do it ourselves, we used a JV Broker to help us out and get affiliates, which is something alot of people miss.

    Thats awsome!

I launched my first one on my own. Did the affiliate recruitment myself and got 130 sales on the front end. I see the potential in getting a JV broker there

Too many people jump into WSO creation without being prepared enough ^^ Just like myself.

My first WSO was a free one and after 4 days I have over 300 subscribers and loads of excellent feedback.

With free WSO's it is very important to over deliver to your subscribers... Many people were saying that I should have charged for the content I delivered which means they will be happy to buy from me in the future.

Congratulations Building a list is truly the most important thing for long term success.
Much more important than the quick sale.

KillerJV's, I will be releasing a WSO at some point and I'm curious what JV Broker you used since you had some nice success.

my first wso was my list building wso and it has currently sold over 300 copies so it did really well considering it was my first wso

the reason why it did so well is because of a few things

    I over delivered big time

not only that but i also did a lot of research into other wso`s and also bought a product about how to make your wso a success

also a big part of it was the fact that i built up some anticipation within my community and also I already had my own list to market too

oh and a great tip for anyone reading this

make sure you ALWAYS do a pre launch list

when i went live i saw a 40% plus conversion rate

i had around 90 on my pre launch list and around 30 - 40 purchased (not bad ey) :-)

I was fortunate enough that my first one was a big success and still sells over a year after it launched. If I was to guess as to why it was such a success I would say the right product at the right time and also getting WSO of the Day helped a LOT.

I tend to think getting WSO of the Day, although still great, isn't as powerful as it was even just a year ago. Now we have JVZoo and a lot more WSO's and a lot more people promoting WSO's so I don't think those lists are as responsive as they used to be.

    I may be wrong...

Without know the kinda numbers that WSO of the Day used to provide it's hard to know...

We launched using JVZoo and picked up POD.. Got us an extra 350 or so sales which always helps...

But as I said, don't know what the number used to be

There's no magic 'number' as such. It depends on a lot of things. Some WSO's of the Day will sell a lot better than others. It's just a hunch I have. Back a year ago there was a LOT less affiliate and product competition. It has really picked up the last year. I am guessing with so many more products for sale and so many new affiliates promoting, there's a lot more white noise you need to cut through.

My first three sold fewer than 20 copies each.

I considered them dismal failures in the financial arena, and a success if the learning department.

I sold a few more than 20 (... not by much, though! LOL) I agree that the learning experience was the biggest takeaway and definitely worth it.

I launched a couple of WSOs with my son, selling Royalty-Free Music Tracks with PLR rights. While we made "some" sales, we certainly didn't sell as many as we would have liked. This might not be the best venue for this kind of product, but we tried to target people who needed music for videos and this type of thing. I thought that including the PLR and Resell rights would knock it out of park, but it was a lesson learned.

I definitely learned a lot through the process and will do more. As long as what I'm selling has good value, I figure it will pay off in the long run.

  • My very first WSO was sooooooo bad I don't even consider it my real first WSO. So tempted to put a joke in here but I seem to get myself into enough trouble online.....

Thanks everybody for all your responses It's really nice to read about the experiences that you had when launching your first WSO's. It really looks like things have changed over the last year or so. But what made a good wso back then probably still makes a great wso today

Mine sucked ass. It took me a month to put together working on it every night,, i spent several hundred dollars,,, bought lots of software and gadgets, video camera,, headsets,, Camtasia ($300)

    But I learned a lot:
1.) Be patient,, don't rush it.. too many people rush to make their millions.
    2.) Do your research.
3.) Put all your ducks in a row
4.) Most important!!!!!! Make sure people want what you have to offer,, No matter how good YOU think it is,, it's what the people want,, not what you want to sell them.
Start slow,, maybe even give it away. Doesn't have to be a lot. Building a list will help tremendously and giving something away is a great way to build a list.

I am looking to create one...to the people who said they got 1000+ sales on the first release..

What do you think made the difference?

  • My first WSO was my best success ever. It raked in so much I remember I was really happy. It was Blog Flipping Bootcamp.
Then, after that, no one of my WSO has repeated that success, and the curious thing is that my first WSO sells well also today, after 3+ years from release.

Awesome post to remember our successes

    Thanks and see you soon,
    Alessandro

Very interesting post as I just went from WSO virgin to WSO-cherry-lost 24 hours ago :-) So far so good - traction is building and people are giving good feedback.

It's amazing to me that even after all these years in marketing, you can never be 100% sure how something is going to go until you release it to the public, but that's where the fun starts! :-)

I haven't put any out in a couple years, but I used to throw out good content packs at the first of the year for smoking, weight loss/diet, and dating site reviews. Those are historically hot niches that time of year. at $9.95 it was always good for a couple hundred bucks. Good, well written, original content packs for hot niches are always good sellers.

100% agreed! So many variables these days to making a launch a success.

The first one got around 150 sales + good conversion on the upsells / downsells .. Felt good to cross 100 ... Peter Garety had his first one sell like 8 copies, and then analyzed came back strrrrrrrong from his fourth one ...his second and third did 80+ , but as long as we keep doing and learn copywriting and marketing .. things can only get better .... for all of us..
