Conducting Research - Network Marketing, MLM, Direct Selling Challenges

Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since my last visit and hopefully not the last.

FYI...I'm gathering data to answer the question on why so many who join a network marketing, mlm, or direct selling company quit within 90 days.

What are your thoughts based on your experience or the experience of those that you know?

Thank you.

Thelma

To much travel. To much face to face selling. Afraid of rejection. Don't know how to approach others with their MLM opportunity. To much convincing of family members and friends to join. High fee to remain in the program. To much ineffecient marketing.

I'd much rather prefer information marketing over this.

I've seen it first hand...and in my opinion there are two problems that keep most from succeeding:

    1. Not knowing how to prospect & ineffective marketing

    2. Lack of commitment

Pretty simple really...if someone is truly committed to succeeding in network marketing, and takes the time to learn how to generate leads, and close sales then MLM becomes a lot easier than most people make it out to be.

It's just like IM. People see the plan, get excited about getting all the money and if they don't see the quick bucks right away, then they quit and say that MLM sucks.

Like in any business, you have to treat it like a business. You have to learn it, work it, work it some more and never ever give up.

Most people you meet are just not that hungry to see it through. That's why only 10% of the human population have all the good things in life. The other 90% are broke or are just getting by. They're just not that uncomfortable.

Thanks For that! I am currently using an "MLM" network as on eof my money making platforms. The key here was I never gave up, worked through issues that came up and ya know what, I started to gain momentum!

I may not be rich...YET but I can honestly say I followed through the steps that were given to me and I started to succeed!

And NO, I am not selling my self out by trying to hook friends and family either LOL, that's why I hated real MLM in the past.

You have to understand one thing...if you want to make LOTS of money on the internet, you have to follow the trend.

Or, if you are just interested to build up a trend-free business, it might take a lot of time and will probably never reach the level of success you are looking for.

When I used to do network marketing, I remember what a pain it was to not only get people into the business, but what few you did manage to recruit, it was tough to retain them into the program.

This, following the typical $100+ a month or more monthly commitment in order to continue to be part of the program was enough to leave me a sour taste in my mouth about mlm after I got out of it permanently. My sister-in-law does Amway and she is actually doing very well with it and it still has not softened my heart back up to network marketing.

I'm curious, what is your sister-in-law doing that is working?

      Thank you for your feedback.

Most of the time it is not about the Business is Bad or the product sucks, So Why do people Quits Networking?

    Here is WWHY:

    1. Clueless on How to Start or even Continue
    2. Fear of Rejection
    3. Lacks Patience
    4. Losing Drive
    5. Noone is HELPING

First of all most people being invited and getting in a networking or MLM are not really marketers. They are regular employees who wanted to have another passive income. Being this case, they do not know how to properly do this business which is why they quit.

    Hope this helps.

GO. MOVE. Keep GOING! Even with the smallest steps and slower paces, the important thing is you are NOT STOPPING! You'll get there!

I remembered being recruited by one of my students.. Ok, so I went(I knew it was MLM due to his pitcholla). I went..

After the meeting, he said, "what you think" . Me, "cool, but MLM it's not for me man, the whole pyramid thing(was ignorant) .. Let me think about it"

Then on and on and on, he kept on insisting. But wait a minute, didn't you invite me? I didn't know anything about it when I came in to this briefing.. Why am i suddenly forced to jump into this? If I join, would I be doing the same thing? forcing or pressure selling my friends? Is there another way? I know there's money in it but it's not for me.

      Anyway, I joined because.

Thank you for your feedback, especially the list of reasons why people quit Network Marketing. Of the five reasons mentioned, which one would you say is the number 1 reason why people quit? Do you have any suggestions on how to solve that problem?

      Blessings.

Most people want all of the hard work done for them and the hard part in Network Marketing is identifying coachable recruits and training them to be business people.

Most people are trained to be employees in our society and Network Marketing generally doesn't provide the paradigm shift in thinking that one must make to transition from employment to self-employment to the later stage of being a business person.

Very few Network Marketing systems focus on recruiting the best candidates into the system, but rather engage targets of opportunity, i.e. the next schmoe on the list of friends and family that the Network Marketer can identify as potential marketers and this shotgun approach is ineffective.

If you've studied Chet Holmes or other salespeople who have genuinely thought about this, the targets all Network Marketers should be recruiting for genuine success are obvious and the sources of those recruits is likewise obvious.

Recruiting shouldn't involve arm twisting when there are obvious supplies of ready made recruits, and training and coaching of these new recruits should be more intense.

When possible techniques from online affiliate marketing should be used to systematize the recruitment and training of new marketers to avoid the need for direct selling as much as possible.

First time reading about Chet Holmes. Thank you for the tip. I asap went to google to find out more. Sad, that he has passed on. Glad that he left behind a legacy of rich personal and business development resources to address the training and coaching of forward moving marketers.

        Hi,

I think people have false expectations & haven't got the patience to build a long term business over months & years. They expect everything to happen in a matter of days & then when it doen't they move on to the next " big " thing

Why are you "gathering that data", Thelma?

What's your own connection with MLM, at the moment?

They simply don't engage enough. Maybe they don't treat that as a real business. Also they probably lack in confidence, consistency, discipline and planing. Or they just don't have a strong reasons to do it.
The most important thing is to set up and write your goals which will give you strength. And there is action involved too! What you need to do today, this week, month, year to accomplish you goal!?
