Building a list ONLY using forum marketing?

Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried building a list using forums ONLY and if you had any success with it.

If so how much were you making per day or week? How fast did your list grow etc?

I know its a pretty amateur question. Truth, Is Ive always wondered, just never tried it.

I know a lot of you guys do this, Ive just never heard of any real data or results form this method.

Just curious if anyone has ever been successful with this business model. I personally hardly ever use a sig.

    Hello TheSalesTechnician,

    We provide writing services. We tried to separate the total sales of what we're getting from the Warrior Forum alone. We're hitting the average total sales worth $4,500 to $5,000 mark on a monthly basis from this forum alone. Marketing/Logistics expenses are not deducted from that amount though. But it's pretty good knowing that it's only coming from one IM forum.

    We consistently build our list by contributing to the forum not by means of posting 'Yeah, that's cool' or 'I agree, thanks!' kind of posts but really responding to what's being asked.

    A nearly impossible to answer question.

    I see you are a member since 2009. Quite a long time. The Warrior Forum has 511,514 members. How many members do you remember by name? Those members probably would have had the best chance of getting a click to their squeeze page from you. In order to get clicks to your squeeze page you must be noticed. And how many clicks/subscribers you get also depends on the quality of your comments. Nobody will click on all links in a thread.

    If you succeed in getting popular and in a popular subniche of IM (Adsense, Mini-Micro Sites, Video Marketing, Listbuilding, Article Marketing etc) you shoul be able to get a fair amount of subscribers.

    For the first 2 years of my business i only got sales from forum posts, and only made a list from my database in my shopping cart lol

    so yes it works, but its damn time consuming.

    If you have a signature like "Make xxx amount of money in 24 hours," then you are going to get lot of subscribers!

    I've done very well building a list in the carp fishing niche from several fishing forums, however much much slower from IM forums

    Dude, you wanna build list fast or you wanna build list slow? It all depends on you. I suggest book some 500 solo ads fro $250 and get around 100-250 subscribers in one night than trying to spend months to establish yourself in a forum to get clicks to your signatures. Besides, forums are deadly tight right now. They have all these regulations on signatures and linkings. Some even only allow you to have a link on your signature after a long period of time.

    Time is money. If you spend too much time on the "free methods" you will bound to be desperate and quit.

    Invest, invest, invest. You wanna build a list of subscribers quickly, book a quality solo ad. That's my advice.

    Btw, in my view, forum signatures are a good way to build quality backlinks to your site but not necessarily for list building.

    Well I know a number of warriors who have built themselves an adequate list on the warrior forum. Considering that this forum has a marketplace for products, selling WSOs with the help of affiliates is a great way to build a list

    For a long time all I did was forum marketing and I have to say that I did very well out of it.

    It may not be glamorous or exciting but if you genuinely help someone they are a lot more likely to click on your forum sig and opting to your list.

    The trick with forum marketing is not quantity but quality the more information you can provide and the better quality you're posts are the more traffic you will get!

    Like I said it may not be as glamorous as some of the other traffic methods but it works!

      Forum marketing is part of my daily routine now, and I routinely get about 1 subscriber a day from it. I only work at it for about 10-15 minutes a day.

      However, like other posters above have mentioned...it's a SLOW way to build a list. I do forum marketing primarily to build relationships online and connect with JV partners. And the list building part is simply an added bonus.

      But if you want to run the numbers, 1 sub a day is 365 subs a year.

      OR one paid solo ad is 365 subs in one day. Your choice.
