How to Hire People to Hand Out Flyers???

Hey guys,

I am looking to hire people to hand out flyers in a number of different cities in America. I was wondering if there is any website that deals with this type of outsourcing?

Might need to hire a manager to sort everything out and look over the deliverers, because if they find out your living in Ireland, a lot may just chuck them in the bin and still get paid. Thinking "how will he ever know".

A very risky stratergy as you have no way of checking! Read a few stories of people outsourcing this to find out the flyers were never distributed! If you're going to hire a manager then you need to make sure your conversions are good otherwise youre just throwing money away!

Agreed! The only way I would do the whole "flyer" gig, is if I could track it. Usually you'll see college kids dropping flyers at places or on cars, but personally I've never heard of outsourcing across the country.

I think I would invest in a direct mail package instead.

      Happy marketing.

It depends on what you are promoting and how you measure results.

The best way to get good results, if promoting CPA for example, is to split the revenue with who is delivering them for either a small upfront with bonuses on how many leads or just simply $0.XX per lead nothing up front.

Getting people should be easy through classified. Set up a unique tracked domain redirect to an offer, get the minimal flyers printed and posted direct to test first.

If they are getting a commission per lead and have their "own" link you can then encourage them to promote other ways with "their link"

    That's what I would do/ have done.

The only way I'd do this is to split revenues as Peter mentions. Outside of that, you'll probably get robbed blind.

Peter actually proposes a great idea as ensuring that the flyers are being distributed is the main challenge.

You can offer a rev-share AND performance bonuses in order to motivate individuals into actually doing the work.

As far as tracking, you can set up individual folders for each of your workers (these can be their names or ID numbers). You'd then use that as their affiliate url link. ie: www.YouSite.com/peter

Naturally, you'll want to pass the worker's name or ID as a "Sub ID" to the CPA/Affiliate offer in order to track conversions. This can be done using a Network's "Postback/Trackback" feature and any tracking or redirect tool such as Prosper 202.

The only other thing I would suggest is that you do a dry run yourself in order to determine (more or less) how many conversions you get per 100 distributed flyers. In this way you have an idea of what conversions to expect from your workers. And if they're not hitting the numbers - then you know something is off.

      Hope this helps

      - Jay

Craigslist is good. Or local notice boards.

I know around me there are specific businesses for it. When I had a brick and mortar business, this guy called "flyer mike' used to come by and offer his services. he had a whole army of kids/homeless that would do door hangers and mailbox stuffers

I am not sure about what you mean by flyers, do you mean tear off flyers on boards ? or do you mean deliver flyers to home ?

If you want to reach people you can go to site like vista print and create the flyers and ask them to send it to people on x, y , z zip code and they will email it to them (they will charge you for mailing these flyers or post cards).

As far as tear off flyers, i didn't find yet the best way because I found some people on sites like fiverr claim to post and take snap shot, but it is very limited.

    I hope that helped

My advice would be to post an ad up on Craigslist or gumtree. You might get some responses on there, it's checked a lot by people willing to do lots of things to earn money.

While you're sorting our your hiring/tracking process you should also look into the local laws of the cities you intend to target. Some cities, such as mine, require you to have a license to distribute flyers. It only costs $15/year here but the fine is $100 if you don't have one. It would really suck to be hired for a gig and come out of it with a fine.

Hey, I have hired some college students on Fiverr.com to distribute flyers for me in computer labs on campus. The trick is to get them to do it a few minutes before class starts...That way they are less likely to be removed. The ones I hire will also take a picture of the work they have done and send it to you. I have had great responses with this technique. You should give it a try!

If I were you, I would post in Classifieds. It would be quite ironic to post flyers to get people to post flyers for you.. INCEPTION! Haha, good luck.

Yeah it definitely seems tricky. Having them take a picture definitely helps. That might be the only way!

How do you plan on compensating the workers? Salary? comms? Per batch handed out?

I have an army of workers ready at the drop of a hat. BUT.. I would need to know how you plan on compensating.

    Thanks,

I picked up 2 mexican guys standing outside a home depot hardware store and told them I would pay them $45 for 4 hours of passingout flyers. I had 6 guys surround me for the job. The older guys walked away, too much walking I suppose. You have to drive around and follow your help to make sure they are doing the right thing. I even took a bunch of fliers myself and walked through the neighborhood on the other side of the street for a time. I had 1 bad apple though, as soon as he knew I was driving to go check on the others, his stack suddenly got much smaller. Like I wouldn't notice. He obviously threw some in the trash. I never used him again. The two guys who were working hard and delivered everything were offered more work and a little more money. I put their cell phone numbers in my phone because good/honest help is hard to find.

If you have a gathering place in Ireland where Day laborers hang out, go and choose younger individuals because they are going to be walking a lot. But, be present or you have no idea if your fyers will get delivered unless you offer incentives, and even at that, they may think you are BSing them and they might dump half of them anyways.

What if you built and hosted subdomain sites for each of your flyer hand out people, and they got paid an affiliate commission for every sale driven through their subdomain?

That way they get paid when you get paid and they have an incentive to pass out the flyers?

You could place ads for free I believe on Craigslist and on Backpage for these types of "Gigs."

Just a thought, but controlling whether or not they hand them out by giving them a Commission pay schedule seems like a better deal than paying directly for flyers in a community where you can't put eyeballs on the prize!

I've done this in the past (although not across such a great distance).

If you're in doubt of your employees trustworthiness, I'd advise hiring a second one to snoop on them and make sure they're actually doing it.

Sometimes just the warning of the check ups is enough to make sure the job is done properly.

Most cities have companies that offer the service. Look under distribution services. Go with an established company. One that has manager in place to verify the work.

Posted flyers get a better response than flyers handed out. I would have them posted or do an Every Door Direct campaign.

Like others mentioned, it is very risky method of marketing. You can easily get scammed because you have no means of tracking if they distributed the flyers or not. Unless you split the revenue or make any deal like that, it is NOT a recommended method of advertisement. You can invest your money on some other form of advertisements, like newspaper ad?

Craigslist ---> Phone tracking ------> Tracking IPs and locations on your website which is not hard to do at all.

Once you see which cities are producing the most phone calls/ clicks to your site than you know who to continue to work with.

I'm not too sure but I would recommend sites like craigslist.org. There are many other local classified ads sites online.

You can also search for local newspapers ad spaces. You might be able to purchase ads for newspapers online.

    I hope this helps!

Do you think the people posting their one-line answers here (some of them containing spam) have noticed that they're answering a question that was asked in 2012?

The Flyer + CPA method worked well for me in the past. I used to average $1k a week doing this. Basically what I did was find a dating niche and hire some cute college chicks to hand out flyers. Gave them bonuses for acting flirty etc.

So you could do this by going on Craigslist and offering a job service or you could do what I did and ask someone from a college to do it for you.

I've tried on 4 separate occasions to try to do this locally (offline business).

One was a moron I got off Craigslist - did nothing.

2 were so-called companies that didn't do any better.

4th was the local newspaper that was incompetent as well.

In all 4 cases I had a way to audit them myself and knew they were all full of crap. The 2 "companies" were nailed with chargebacks from my credit card company.

I can't imagine the horror show trying to do this from another city.

The only people that respond to this are too stupid and too lazy to do anything else. That's been my experience at least.
