You need to click the save button on each of the settings subpages. So, if you set the double opt-in box to "off", you should click the save button before switching to any of the other settings subpages.

You might want to start a new list, as you have already added a name to that one. In most cases, you cannot switch from double to single once you have subscribers.

What he means is don't test the form on your pc. Upload the webpage to your website and test it there. Aweber is looking for the referrer information which is not available when you test it on your pc.

Oh dude! Thank you! You just cleared that right up for me!

Unfortunately I have already been doing that... testing it on my website. I didn't even know you could test it thru Aweber.

Dammit! I hope I can figure it out.

          Thanks again Mate

Just FYI for anyone - I solved it.

I made a new WebForm and made sure I used the new WebForm's HTML.

Then it worked with Single Opt In as required.

What I learnt: My flaw was trying to use original WebForm that was originally Double Opt In Enabled. If you change to Single Opt in, I think the best practice would be to then create a completely new WebForm and update your HTML codes.

Hope this helps someone else haha.

Contact Aweber. They will have to help.

AWeber will only allow you to have a single optin if you don't use a third party script like WishList Member for your optins. So if you are putting up a squeeze page created in AWeber and you copy and paste the AWeber web form code on your optin page, then the single optin feature you've selcted and saved will function. Anything else and even if you have the confirm button on OFF and save, AWeber will throw a fit and override your setting!

I found that the hard way!

I am not sure going the single optin route is a hot idea... I use Aweber in double optin mode and they monitor complaints closely. Going single optin might explode the number of complaints... Just be careful what you send out and pay close attention to what your list members want.

  • Hi there

I use single optin all the time on my autoresponder, I use aweber and have never had a problem with complaints
