Default Social Bookmarking - Lessons From the Field...

Hey There,

I just wanted to make a post to share a couple lessons with you that I've learn since starting my challenge to create a $4k business from scratch within 60 days. It's 24 days in right now and something interesting and really quite disappointing has happened...

One of the methods of promotion I've been using has been social bookmarking. Just today I went to submit a new article posted to a site I made and found that I was not allowed to post. In my cycle of getting things done and working a little on overdrive, my account had been flagged as a non typical user I guess. They had not only banned me from posting the link that I wanted, but any link hosted at the same domain.

Before you get silly ideas, no it's not anything dodgy, no I haven't used automation programs and I haven't been going crazy spamming people. I've really been posting probably once a day with various sites hosted on the same domain. Not exactly a super-user or at least I thought, just caught up in my world of getting things done. In turn I've come up with these guidelines for myself and thought I'd share them here.

The New Social Bookmarking Guidelines:

  1. Submit 3-5 genuinely good articles to SBs (Social Bookmarkers) for every article of my own that I submit. If you always give first then everyone benefits. The more people doing this the more everyone will benefit.
  2. Take time to enjoy the SBs for their originally intended use. Providing that you have been submitting accurate keywords and using a good SB etc you will probably find a lot of things that quite interest you.
  3. Use multiple hosting accounts. Even if you do everything perfect every time (which you probably won't) there is always the chance that some automated system will get flagged or you will annoy someone in house. By having your websites hosted at multiple domains this negates a lot of the problems that might be triggered if one of your domains gets hurt.
Simple guidelines that will hopefully make a big difference. You ensure that you are using SBs in a slightly more social manner(imagine using a social site in a social way ), you will probably get more out of them personally and finally if it all goes wrong you're protected as well as you can be...

Best Regards,

Daniel McClure

P.S. Feel free to add your own comments and 'lessons from the field' in this post. It would be interesting to hear other peoples take on this...

In my opinion, you should be careful when you are using the top social bookmarking sites. They are the ones which take regular action on users who submit content from same domain again and again. One of the main social site that is very strict on submitting links is Digg.

In digg, if you are going to submit links only from your blog, even only once everyday, you and your domain will get banned.

So to escape from getting banned, the point #1 you said is right. In fact, you can increase it to more than 5. Maybe 7 or 8 other articles for every single article from your domain.

Just what I learned from using social sites.

Sit back and relax, while you take advantage of this freelance writer.
Special Price:$10 per article (normally $25). PM Me for details.

Thanks for your input. I'll probably keep it around 7 or 8 then, That should be easy enough when taking into account point 2 about enjoying the sites as most regular users do.
