Twitter helped me get 10 signups to my list yesterday.

Yah it's not a lot of signups, but people are asking "How has Twitter helped your business?" so I thought I share what I did.

On my blog, I created a page where I will stumble peoples' sites if they leave a comment with their sites' urls. (the link to this is in my signature "Can I stumble your site?")

When people come to my blog, there is a popup with a lightbox asking people to join my list.

The next thing I did was go to Twitter and post the following message:
FREE stumbles for my twitter followers... Free Stumbles

And people responded. And came to my site to claim their free stumbles. And 10 signed up for my list.

And 3 people signed up so far today.

So the lesson here is this: Give your followers something of value and something they want. And have them come to your site to claim their gift and you have a chance to market to them.

Twitter is huge and i remember a year ago people saying it was stupid. I love it and congrats on the signups!

I auto post to my twitter account when i post a new post at johncow.com

I try not to direct sell on twitter. I will also go in there every now and again and just start talking with people.

I also try to follow back if someone is truly a follower and not a spammer. You can usually tell if they have a real picture for their profile and not a default or hot chick.

I have 2000 followers right now and i follow about 1600

i recently create a free twitter ebook (in my sig) and get about 120 sign ups a day just from my automated direct message and people buy the re-brandable version too which creates great sales. I can put one post on twitter for a free blog ebook and add 50 sign ups in one go.

It really is amazing its just a case of making sure that you offer something that they want and most importantly my unsubscribe from twitter is pretty much zero.
