Info Product Security Question

I had another thread about hiding PDFs on the internet but felt it was too specific. I'm ready to put my "free product"(to get email opt ins) and my real product(for sale) out on the internet. They are both PDF files. I don't want to buy DLGuard, I want to see if it actually sells first. My question right now is:

Once people have your product, can they just attach it in emails and send it to all their friends? Is there a way to prevent this?

once they physically have the PDF, I'm not sure you can do anything.

Even if it's protected people get around it.

It's kinda the price paid these days. If it's a quality product I think more people will buy then steal.

If there is a solution, I'd love to hear about it too.

Well in reality then yes, even high products with all the protection in the world are ripped, if the person does do that then the only question is ethics, and am sure you know lots of wso's end on black hat forum ... there are people who remain unethical and do such things, but majority are good people and you should rather focus on giving value to those people and create a business around them

I am sure you know about pirated version of windows software around the world where the copyrights law are not as strictly enforced as US, but still MS is a giant,

Rather you encourage people to spread the free copy and give so much value that even those with a little inclination to steal will not do so...

Once they have your PDF, they can pretty much do whatever they want with it. That's one drawback of information products, but don't let the bad apples spoil your business.

If you want to protect your product then try not to publish the whole content in one PDF file. Try to conceal half or part of your contents in a protected members area where you can drip feed your contents.

Just add a link towards the end of your PDF course to register and get the rest of your contents.

Free but not totally secure way- create a password protected directory using cpanel (google it). and then give out the password to it to your buyers in the thank you email. All will have the same password so it could get passed around. But its a good way to start out.
