how can I estimate site conversions

whats a realistic goal to set for site conversions based on keyword research.

eg if a 'keyword' has 20,000 exact global searches and low competition - how much of that 20,000 should I be able to get to visit my site within the first year of my site going live.

Im trying to forecast income and sales for my 12mnth business plan but I am lost with what I should be expecting to make from the site

Sites don't have conversion rates. It's the various pages on your site that do. Conversion rates depend on a number of factors, and different products on your site will have different conversion rates. It should also be noted that conversion rates fluctuate. They aren't constant. Speaking in general terms, I conversion rate of 1% is normal. This means that you make a sale for every 100 visitors you have to a particular page. If you are good at what you do, then your conversion rates will be higher than normal.
