Default Is pr important, what should I look for

I´m trying to do keyword research and I´m trying to figure out If I have a shot a getting the number 1 google position.

Does google value pagerank as an important factor, Is it possibly to get a higher position than the ones with at the top with a lower pagerank.

Or is links and alexa ranking more important?

Sincerely
Karl

I got to the number 1 position on Google for a site that was about two weeks old. What I'm trying to say is, you have a good chance of ranking for keywords which have a relatively low number of competing pages. I ranked my site by getting a fair number of backlinks. Alexa rankings are typically inaccurate, so you shouldn't worry about them.

Just make sure you have unique content and proper on-page and off-page SEO done, pick a search term that has a relatively low number of competing pages, and you should not have too much trouble getting on that first page.

Ok, yeah that´s my plan, but is there any difference in trying to rank for articles?

Sincerely

Keywords are very important. And they certainly will help you get your page listed higher on Google. I think you need to look at what those keywords are though... as an example "mating rituals for sea lions" only show 10,500 searches, the question is are those the keywords that will help get you a higher listing on a search engine. There is a neat little tool at this website that helps show you whether your keywords are difficult or easy, a rating below 40 means the keywords are usually pretty effective. Some good advice already. As stated Alexa is not very accurate and I've never heard it helping your rank. PR is not very important these days, too many people abused it in the past.

How you rank depends on some many things. How much competition, how big the competition is, how many back links they have, quality of back links, related back links or not, ect. Also depends on the niche. For example, might be pretty tough to get ranked well for weight loss.
