Having Audio on your Website

Is it worth it to have audio on your website?

In my case I have included short audio clips in Quicktime format imbedded into some of my posts and pages, explaining some parts of the topic.

I thought they might add some quality that the user and search engines might look favorably on but am worried that it will slow down the loading time for some or many and the search engines may not like it after all.

Should I take them out so the pages load faster or does the extra value of having them outweigh the slow loading factor?

Not if the audio autoplays when people land on your site. If thats what you're doing I suggest stopping immediately (I just have a pet peeve against autoplaying any type of file).

However, if you are just hosting audio snippets that people can play themselves, then I say yes that can be very helpful.

I do this on one of my music blogs so people can hear samples as they evolve rather than one final product. On most my other sites/blogs however I tend to stick with just videos and text content/graphics.
