Advice on choosing a domain

I was wondering if someone could give me advice on choosing a domain name from a keyword.

For example, if two keywords are similar, could I make a domain name that included both in order to target both? Would that work? Or would it be best to focus on one? For example:

"easydogtraininglocations.com"

where it is targeting "easy dog training" and "dog training locations."

Is this a good idea? Or should it target one or the other? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Try to stay with a domain for your main keyword instead of using phrases from your secondary keywords.

I would recommend to stick just to one. And stick to the one that has more potential with success and profits.

Never try to over do this process, cause ranking is one hell of a job! Focus on one, and with that same domain name, target the other. Anyhow, they are similar to a degree.

I have seen plenty of examples of sites even doing well on a first page without having the keyword in the domain name.

    Hope that helps.

Keep it simple, and just focus on driving lots of targeted traffic to your site. Do seo as normal, and market yourself like a mad man. Don't spend alot of time on something (like a domain name) that can drive you nuts.

I don't see an issue with this. I often write to target more than one keyword phrase, so why not with a domain name?

It doesn't really matter just choose the domain which is shorter and has your main keyword in it

I have tried to combine domains before. For me, it has not worked that well. The exact match seems to work still, despite the updates, but I have never had a domain for multiple keywords rank higher than one that is specifically targeted.

My advice would be to get both, or run a software program like MNF to determine which one is the best to start off with. What is best is to just start writing your content, even if you just get one, post the content, write articles for submissions, and get traffic. Doing is everything, along with a great executable plan.

Including 2 keywords in a domain name is nothing wrong to do. You can go for it. If you can get some high quality backlinks from some good quality sites, your ranking will be higher easily. If domain name contain the keyword, it is an advantage but the backlinks and online reputation is more important.

With all the latest changes and the fact that google's algorithm is getting smarter, I think that the domain name is becoming more irrelevant. The algorithm will reward on the SEO done for the keywords you are targeting regardless of the domain name. This is called branding and Google is aware of that. Nevertheless, keyword rich domains have some SEO weight and you should aim for one keyword and all the relevant ones will follow.

    |Agree with the last post. Dont make it long and unreadable.
You should keep it simple clean and brandable.
Also, you can rank for both "easy dog training" and "dog training locations.", and have a domain like everythingaboutdogs.com for example. Once someone searches for the first keywords or the other one and your site will come up, it will be easy to recognize that the keyword is related to the domain.

    Good luck!

You really should select a domain name that is the EXACT keywords you are trying to rank for. When you do this you can utilize a quirk in Google's thinking and blast your way to page 1

Exact match domains still do well in my opinion. I have a few that were ok after the last updates too.

I think you should target just one keyword in your domain name, which domain you are thinking to have is looking like you have added two or three keyword in that.

If your one keyword will start rank then other will automatically start rank.

In my experience it totally depends on your on the competition of your keywords, if you think the competition is tough for location keyword then use it in the domain name, and if it is not tough then let it go and rely on the other keywords. But in the long run when once your site will be established and will have make a good place in search results, these keywords may look odd, so try to keep the things as little as possible, i have seen several sites which dont have a single keyword in the domain name, but still positioned on number one place in the search results. so it will need little more effort to come up in the search, keywords matter but they don't matter soooo much. So my advice is don't add the location in your domain name.
