If you own the domain and you are using the Blogger CMS (which is possible), then you can sell it because the site belongs to you.

If you are using a subdomain (ie: website.blogspot.com), then you don't own the website. This means that you cannot sell it.

This is like having an apartment complex. If you own the complex, then you can rent out the rooms (ie: you own the website, you can sell it). If you are renting a room (a subdomain), then you cannot rent out that room.

Come up with your own blog and site, because selling a blogspot blog is non-negotiable.

If you're selling it then you are going to need to give up any other blogger sites you have with that account & use an escrow service. It's going to be a pain, you're not going to get near what it's worth & you need to let it be a lesson to you to purchase your own domain & hosting so that you get the full value of your efforts in the future.

I wonder how many people will stumble across this thread, read only the first two or three responses and then start repeating them...

This is incorrect. The site itself does not belong to you. Only the domain-name does.

      Many, doubtless.

It never ceases to surprise me how many people seem to believe that redirecting or mapping their own domain-name to a blog hosted at Blogger somehow exempts them from all Blogspot's terms of service: the teachings of the Urban Myth School of Internet Marketing are very prevalent and pervasive.

As others have already said, you cannot sell a .blogspot.com website since Google owns that domain name, nor do you have any rights to the theme/template*. However, you still own and have complete rights to the content you create on the site--basically, the blog posts you've written. Google's terms explicitly state that the blog author retains copyright to their work.

If you have the patience, you need to start porting the content over to your own self-hosted blogging software (or create individual HTML pages) using your own domain name and build-up the traffic and income.

In time you'll be able to sell the site since you will be in control of the domain (assuming it's not another third party service) and created the content.

The grey area, however, is if you didn't create the content yourself. You'll need to double check the rights that were transferred to you from the content source.

*Although you don't have any rights to the default theme/template available with Blogger, you may have some rights if you commissioned a design from a designer. You'll need to get in touch with the designer and find out if his terms allow the transitioning from Blogger to a different medium (i.e. WP, MT, EE, HTML, &c.). If not, then you'll need a different design for the site.
