How Much Demand for an Ebook???

I'm looking at having an ebook written in a niche I've found that seems (I believe) to be a good one. I'm wondering though, before I invest more time and money into this idea for an ebook I plan to sell on Clickbank and the Kindle store, how much demand (via keyword tools) an ebook topic should have if it's going to be a success?

I should also mention that this is my very first info product I'm setting out to create, so I'm just a noob at this.

Thank you, Warriors.

It depends on the niche you have in mind. Go to the forums that talk about your niche. See what the biggest problems and needs are, find a solution to those needs... Profit.

Making money online basically comes down to those steps. Finding out what somebody's needs are, finding a solution to those needs, Profit

Find a problem, Create a solution, Give it to them...

I think thats a basic marketing principal.

      The advice above is good.

Check forums, see what questions are being asked. Find out what problems people are having. Create the product, appeal to the emotional need the problems generate and make sales.

      Cheers,
      Karson

You can check keyword tools to get some idea of what people are searching for. Then you can take what they're searching for and see how it's related to buying.

So, if you have written a book about "lunch meat origami" then you can see how many searches there are for "lunch meat origami supplies", "where to buy lunch meat origami", or "discount lunch meat origami". This won't tell you the full story, but it will give you some idea if people are spending money in the niche.

You can also check the estimated CPC in the Google Keyword Tool. The theory is that if people are spending a lot on AdWords for certain keywords, then there is demand and money to be made. Again, it's not foolproof, but it's another piece of evidence.

You mentioned Kindle and ClickBank, so be sure to check both of those sites to see if there are other titles in your niche. If there are, then it's another good sign.

Research will only take you so far. Sometimes, you just need to publish the thing and see how well it does.

    All the best,
    Michael

Look, I appreciate people willing to try and help; although, I have done research, that is how I found the topic I think would make a good ebook.

What kind of search volume should I look for to determine how successful I might be?

Go to Amazon and to the 100 top sellers of this year/last 12 months, break it down in the the broad category your doing, see how many books are in the top 100 on topic there are, and how close to your topic those then are. If anything is in the top 100 it's there because people are buying. Seeing other books on a similar topic is a good thing, not a bad thing, provided you then offer something that is different from the others, ie there are 15 recipe books there, despite my perception that we're all sick of the too many cruddy tv shows, and each of them are on vegetarian, organic, baking like a pro, gluten free etc, It tells you the public interest is strong. Do a variation and play that field.

Another angle is what I just did last year to learn the process of ebooks; I wrote a special interest book on my hobby, how small a niche did you say? its on vintage british interservice target rifle accuracy techniques, circa 1900. Lee Enfield rifle. The search traffic for that is so small it doens't show on a google tool.

My audience is to be found on the forums where I hang out and play my hobby, and on ebay where I find spare parts for my hobby, on youtube where they post videos and facebook where they chat all day.
I made a links website listing all the related websites around the world, a gateway site, last august. These days it ranks no1 for a few words and gets 5k visitors per month, and on the front page people can buy the book. enfieldresource dot com

I made a link promoting a forum in the book and they gave me a free banner ad on the sites front page for free, for 6 months or more, plus testimonies.
Other folks have videos on youtube so I have a channel there about the techniques, which links to my website.
Other folks are on Facebook, where I have a link to my website.
Its also on amazon I think.
I run ads on ebay beside the spares when i remember.

    Thats all I do.
I sell at least a copy every day, all over the world, mostly on automatic, from $20 digital to hardcover in fill color for $85, including one customer who bought 9 of the color copies in one go.
And now I'm a world expert, who knew that would happen?

There ya go, the whole secret, I should sell a wso or something.

btw total newby here who still can't drive traffic worth a darn, am I pleased, could anyone copy me? heckyes

good luck and go for it, follow advice, keep alert to good advice, tailor what you do to promote it to your situation and topic,

One thing: Make sure you're ebook, site, banners and graphics all together are of great quality. This will give you some instant authority in your niche. It is best to outsource this if it isn't your cup of tea. PM me if you want a recommendation of a good landing page builder.

With so many ebooks out there, I find people are mostly just ignoring them unless you have a great niche.

Test and see. You'll see immediately what the demand is instead of going by theory.

eBooks are becoming increasingly more popular by the minute. I would definitely recommend writing an eBook on a top niche topic soon!! You can find great keywords from both Amazon and from Google Keyword Tool

I think your idea of Clickbank and Kindle are good but I would urge you not to stop there. Barnes & Noble Book, CreateSpace, LULU and Smashwords are other options for you to sell your ebook.

I use the Google keyword search tool as well Amazon to find the keywords I use and it works rather well.

    Good Luck!

If there's healthy competition and advertising dollars in that niche, there's enough demand.
