Your opinion - best bang-for-buck backlinks?

Like many people, I use outsourced (offshore) labour for link building. Ive been doing this for a few years and have spent a lot of money over time on various contractors building links to my sites.

In the last couple of Google algorythm updates I took a nasty dump on one of my main sites and was dropped for EVERY keyword except for the business name and am now doing the whole process over again with a new contractor @$5 per hour. Its taking a long time and costing quite a bit to get rank again

I wanted to ask people's opinions; whats your view on the best 'bang for buck' link-building types to get rank these days?

This guy is doing article posts, and is all about me doing 'social media' and 'blogging' - both of which are things I would rather avoid.

The really annoying thing about all of this is that my main competitor is at number 1 for many of the keywords I used to rank for and has none of that, nor does he have any real on-site seo at all - seems that all of his SERP is coming from backlinks.

So what do you guys rate as the best way currently to build links?

For quality backlinks I say press release is the best.

What I'm about to say is going to shock many people but there is no one backlink that is the best bang for your buck. To rank highly in the search engines in the days of Penguin you need a diverse amount of different types of backlinks. You need to vary your anchor text. You need to produce high quality On Page SEO. Trying to only focus on getting one type of backlink to rank is sure to get your site penalized

I think the best back links are the ones being used the most.

Depending on the niche and traffic your looking for.

I would test to see what back link gets the most clicks.

I think the worst would be directories. You would have to many links just sitting there.

Compared to say forum postings. You would get more and better targeted clicks. On top of that you would get a boost in visitors and Google would rank higher for that to.

I would only do what would be used.

    Good luck.
