Nice little keyword strategy...
If you are a bit unsure on the keywords that represent 70-80% of your niche then you should probably get some understanding fast.
The resources I use are good old Google Adwords and KeywordSpy
I begin by using Adwords first and punch in my most popular keyword and see what Google recommends plus the volume of traffic it receives.
Next I cruse over to KeywordSpy:
And...
a. Use the keywords I have from Google and punch them in the search box.
b. I will then check all the domains bidding for that keyword.
c. Then, I click on one of the top sites listed and see all the keywords they are bidding on.
d. Normally there will be some interesting keyword phrases which I jot down.
e. Then, clicking on one of the best phrases then I didn't consider before I see what other companies are advertising on the search term.
f. Take the same steps from step (c) on... and continue to repeat over and over again. This builds up a "top dog" keyword list of all the efforts that all my competitors use in my market!
This strategy might be old news to some but breaking news to others. Either way it works. And what works must be worked!
