My first website.. A newbie

Hi all,

After one year of wait, I'm finally (about to) launching my affiliate site.
However, few hiccups.

Well, I have gathered information on bank-links, creating blogs for traffic, adding links to posters/images and keyword rich articles.
What else do you suggest me to include on sites, for a start-up guy like me?

Your response is highly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
#newbie #website

I mean, because I'm not much into traffic generation now. I want to build my site into perfection.
My doubt is, lets say my product is ABC.
    1. What are the possible articles I can write on it?
    2. What are the navigation menus I may have in my site? (Home, About Us?..... )

      Hi,

If you have been looking into this for a year I would hope you would have an idea on things like "what are the possible articles I can write on?" I know you said it was a weight loss site, but thats a bit broad. Would need some more info.

An easy thing to do is to look at some of the other weight loss sites and imitate what they have done. However, there are more effective methods.

I did a free WSO on this kind of stuff a while ago. You can check it out on the link below:

      http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...ss-online.html

If you want to do this successfully it sounds like you need to get a proper strategy in place.

While it is a great idea to want to make truly good content on your site, it is a mistake (in my opinion) to focus ONLY on that and trying to get that desired "perfection" you seek.

      Why?

Because unless you have been studying up a LOT on paid/instant traffic, you are building your site for no one.

If you aren't very experienced in getting traffic to your site, you may end up waiting several days, weeks or more likely months getting any real amount of people to your site.

Start promoting now....when visitors show up tweak things until you get closer to "perfection"...you'll save a ton of time!

      Good luck!

Have an opt in box and build that list. Have an Autoresponder series set up.

      Hi Bluestarace,
Thanks for the response but I'm blank again. What is "Autoresponder" and "opt box".
      My niche is health related.
      {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[6579567].message }}
      • An opt-in box is what you will get from an e-mail campaign provider, such as:

Mail Chimp, AWeber, Get Response, etc

An auto-responder is an automated response system that will deliver messages to your subscribers based on time triggers, such as: First message right after signing up, and a message each day for 14 days, then promote a product.

Building back-links is a pretty heavy subject to cover quickly, but you can create Web 2.0 properties that link to your website, such as: WordPress, HubPages, Squidoo, etc.

If you niche is health related, consider promoting a product from Market Health, Sell Health or More Niche.

On-site SEO is the content on your pages, if you want to rank for "Health Keyword", you would have a 1%-3.5% density of this keyword in the text of that page, and you would emphasize/bold/underline these keywords periodically through the site. You will create images for this page and give them a file-name & alt tag of your associated keyword (or one similar, that way you don't appear to be spamming).

Off-page SEO is where you create back-links to your website pages tagged "Health Keyword" using keywords in your anchor text labeled "Health Keyword".

This is just a start, but if you weren't sure where to start maybe this will help you out.

        Best regards,

          Hello Christopher,
I had chosen a product from Moreniche. I have a product, images and banners that they've provided. The only question is, how do I create topics on the product, so that I can write articles on them? And what are the navigation tabs that I need to include?

        Hi Girizh,
Here is a thread that might help you.

        The newbie checklist

Seems like you are very new to this.

I would advise you to spend some time reading on this forum. Whenever you have a question, use the search function first. It is very likely you will find an answer with that. If not, just ask.

Before launching your website, I would say, spend some time learning about list building. It is basically a method with which you add subscribers to your mailing list so you can sell products to them again in the future. This way you are not wasting your hard earned traffic. You do this with an opt in box.

Once they are on your list, you are going to send them emails every couple of days. With these emails you will be building a relationship with them by providing value. Once they trust you, they will buy from you again.

Here is a thread that will teach you more about list building.

        Essentials of list building

    Many Thanks,
Quality content is a must. You should have both product reviews and articles on stuff related to your niche. You will get traffic from both. It's also important that you start building a list as soon as possible. The cool thing about having an opt-in form on your blog is that a number of the people who visit your site via the search engines will sign up to your list without you having to do much of anything. Finally, don't put adsense blocks on pages where you are promoting products for affiliate marketing. Adsense drives traffic away from your site.

    Good luck,
    Joey

There is no opt-in form on this site (yet...), this is literally a one-hit-wonder for me, something I put together in a single day and crossed my fingers. I am in the process of launching my own product - which relates to mobile applications (my favorite income stream right now), but after that is wrapped up I will be investing A LOT OF time in my health niches.

I know a few people who make mid 6 figures a year from promoting health products, but these are MASSIVE PROJECTS, something I look forward to tackling as I free up more of my time.

The idea of my site is not to build customer retention, its a flat affiliate site, but it has some decent graphics (I like to think.. I put it together) so maybe people trust it a little more. I sell a few products every single day on this site, and it has ranked for hundreds of long-tail keywords over the year.

When I do take the whole 'health thing' serious, this site - and others - will be my poster children.

So does that mean I am wasting and spending time on list building, because mine is as well, a niche site.?

Do I really need list building for niche related site that I'm developing?

    Hi

I'm not sure if this is what you mean but if you buy your domain you need to transfer it to hosting. I use the baby plan on hostgator as it's easy and you can link straight into Wordpress. Wordpress is I think the easiest to use as it gives you thousands of free themes or some paid ones if you need something specific. If you stick into Youtube how to set up a wordpress theme on hostgator there are free videos to show you what to do. There are other hosting companies and again use the search facility on Google to find one which suits your finances and needs.
    Hope this helps

the promotion of site is a second step, first of all you have to create an attractive and audience oriented website.
Make sure to select a good developer, select a unique theme.First build site, then come to bank-links, creating blogs for traffic, adding links to posters/images and keyword rich articles etc.

    Best wishes

      Hi Mickinzie,

    Thanks again @Christopher.

And pardon me for my continuous questions.

Well I hope this is the last question. When I choose a product, should I look into 'local monthly searches' or 'Competition' ?

And I learnt the keyword is very vast. For example, lets say 'abc' product(Weight Loss product) has low competition and about '14,800' local monthly searches.

But, there are many keywords for which the competition is high and 'local monthly searches'
is huge!! And they are irrelevant to the product. Something like- 'Loosing weight', 'best weight loss' and so on. But my product is 'abc'. How do I choose keywords?

  • Okay this is another tough one... but let me help you.

    You can use this tools:
    Loading...

You can view up to 10 keywords for free, I use a premium subscription and this tool is invaluable to me, but until you start making money don't worry about it, there are 10 billion things you can buy that can 'help' but won't 'make you money', for now just focus on the top ten results.

Type in a keyword and check keyword summary / related results, you can get a more realistic view of how much each click is worth to advertisers, how many searches this keyword gets, and the amount of search results.

You can use SEO Power Suite:
SEO PowerSuite - The OFFICIAL FREE Version From Link-Assistant.Com

You can use these four tools for free, you can check back-links of websites, you can check your website rankings pretty quickly and you can view an optimization report of your website that is pretty accurate.

I also use market samurai, you can get an extended free trial here:
    Market Samurai

I use all of these tools in sync when choosing keywords, I determine how powerful my competition is on the top of the SERP's for any given keyword, I check how profitable that keyword might actually be, and I formulate a plan to tackle those keywords based on the data I derived from the various software tools.

You have to be very careful when building back-links, I find that building 5-9 links a day - taken directly from competitors (find these with SEO Spyglass, part of SEO Power Suite), this definitely helps.

This bit of info here can keep you busy awhile, if it is something you can grasp and even get excited about, then you might have a chance in Internet Marketing my friend!

    Just prepare for hardships =)

    Many Thanks,
First, congratulations on GETTING STARTED. That is the hardest part, oftentimes, in affiliate marketing. Just getting started. Sometimes too much analysis leads to paralysis.

My advice is to look at your stats and see where your traffic is coming from. You will be getting SOME traffic. Even if it's very little. Figure out how people found you and try to pump up the volume that source sends.

There's a gold mine in your stats. People are often too busy, confused, and, I hate to say this, sometimes too lazy to figure out how to maximize the traffic they are already getting.

    Wow. That's a wonderful tool!!

But my question is how can we select KW out of product name.. I mean, for example, if I choose my KW as 'Weight loss pill' for ABC product, how does it benefit me? How do I connect KW and the product ? It makes sense to humans that ABC is a product for losing our weight. But how does Google understand that? How effective is to choose such KW. Because before I thought when I choose a product, all the KW must have my product name in it.. True? How do I go about it?

    Those are the confusions.. Uff!

    Many Thanks though

Hi, the affiliate site might be harnessing traffic from social networking platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+ etc !nd that one page is a Squeeze page which might be that the copywriting is so good that most are compelled to subscribe to her list to find out more

PLR = Private Label Rights. Basically it is material that is created by others that you can claim as your own. It doesn't replace SEO, but it will help you build material for your site.

It sounds like you don't have the fundamentals down. Go get affiloblueprint 3 and follow that. It's very relevant to your business model.

You can create a free website at webs.com and 110mb.com and other places if you can not buy hosting at hostgator or hawkhost.

Write 10 to 20 unique articles on your blog. Monetize with Amazon, Adsense or CPA like CJ, Peerfly, etc.

Get free traffic from free classified ad sites like OLX.com and Backpage

    Good luck !

      Thank you greenowl123,

Isn't it necessary to create websites? Because I can afford to get domain plus hosting it. But I am confused whether it is mandatory to buy a domain as an affiliate site..

Sorry to quote again. Well, I didn't understand what you meant by monetizing with Amazon or CPA.. I do know about Adsense program but nothing about the former.

And how do I get traffic from OLX.com and Backpage?

      Many Thanks,

I'm confused because I'm ready to buy domain and start up writing articles on niche (yes, I have keywords). Lets say opt-in forms are also ready for my site.

Blogs are set up for back-links.

Is this good enough to start now with affiliate business?

Hey bud, content is key. I started a blog a few years ago and now have about 168 articles and stories with photos and my site gets about 700 to 1200 page views a day. No paid advertising at all.

Now I am working to monetize it. This is all organic traffic with traffic from photos, other companies and other blogs that are using my articles to draw traffic.

      Content is key.
