Building Your List From Scratch?

After reading "Money is only in the list" 1000's of times.
I jumped into list building. And bought an account at safe-swaps.com.
But to do swaps you have to have a list first.
I dont want to waste more money. I have that account on safe-swaps.com and need to create a list.
Any advice or how to build your list from scratch?
How can i do JV's and all other things related to list building please share some tips advice and your stories.

I have not tried out doing JV's. I'm still at the stage of buying solo swap from safe-swaps.com.

I feel safer doing solo swap at safe-swaps.com; I can see their reviews and to decide if I want to purchase swap from them.

There are other many ways to build list but it may take time; blogging, article writing and etc. Otherwise you can try viralurl.com.

I agree with condorx, I too have bought some solo ads using the above source and you too will generate leads and opt ins however, you will need $$$ to invest to buy soloads, then once you have 300+ subs on your list then use safe swap to continue growing your list with members with a similar list size.

What you want to do is buy a few solos over at Safeswaps. Then once you've got 500 or so on your list, you then want to start doing adswaps.

Now I won't sugar coat this but when you start out swapping with other partners, you're only gonna do small swaps at first but as time goes by hopefully this will snowball and with every swap you do, they'll get bigger and bigger.

And another thing, don't just depend on Safeswaps for traffic like 99% of members do over there. You want to go out and diversify your traffic streams as much as possible.

Look me up if you want, I'm a member myself.

Found you easily ... Safe-Swap.com's search function is handy.
how can we search for other warriors?
I think we should start a THREAD calling all warriors on safe-swaps.com

And How did you build your list james?

So you need to buy solo ads first?
I have seen people selling solo ads on safe-swap.com. There might be some other options but as i have already spent my money on buying an account on safe-swap.com, i will only stick to it.
What you offer in solo ad?
A free report so that people opt-in to your list?

  • Hi James36,

You can implement the following campaigns:

=>> Regularly develop relevant onsite content that offers interesting info, helpful advice and related real life stories. Then:

=>> Develop a free digital info product that can provide effective solutions for some of the problems and needs of your target audiences that they can neither satisfy nor solve on their own. This is for building a mailing list of prospect subscribers. Post this on your site as a free product upon mailing list subscription. Next:

=>> Develop a more comprehensive digital info product that offer solutions for more of the most urgent problems and most immediate needs of your target audiences. This is for building a mailing list of buyer subscribers. Post this on your site as a paid product, bundle your free product, post this paid product as an affiliate product with 90% or more commissions per sale in various affiliate networks (Clickbank and JVZoo among others), to entice more people to become your affiliates and help promote your onsite content, free product and paid product as well as populate your mailing lists with prospects and buyers. Then:

=>> Buy solo email ad spots from sellers with large active mailing list subscribers comprised of your target audiences. Promote in those solo email ads your onsite content, free product, paid product and affiliate signup pages. Next:

=>> If you're based in North America, purchase a $10/month or so hosting plan from a hosting company offering up to $150 of free Google Adwords search PPC credits among other free credits from search PPC advertising networks. Promote your onsite content, free product, paid product and affiliate signup pages using those free search PPC credits. Then:

=>> Set up a Facebook account for your website. Find coupon codes that can give you up to $250 of free Facebook PPC credits. Promote in those Facebook PPC ads your onsite content, free product, paid product and affiliate signup pages. Next:

=>> Submit your indexed onsite content to high authority ezine channels and content syndication networks with large active publisher bases comprised of owners and administrators of heavily trafficked, high authority sites in your target niches. Among the best content to submit for syndication includes those about controversial, provocative and compelling topics covered by your target niches. Include links to your homepage and to your other onsite posts/pages that can offer supplemental or additional benefits neither found in your syndicated content nor elsewhere. Next:

=>> Contact owners and administrators of heavily trafficked, high authority sites in niches related to your target niches. Negotiate guest posting arrangements with them using your indexed onsite content, or unique content not to be published elsewhere except on their sites and newsletters. Include links pointing to your homepage and to other pages of your site that can offer supplemental or additional benefits neither found in your guest posts nor elsewhere. Then:

=>> Establish your reputation in heavily trafficked, high authority Web forums and social groups/networks in your target niches and in other related niches as a friendly, expert resource of beneficial info, advice, content, free products, paid products and services. Do this by helping other members and lurkers of those Web forums and social groups/networks with their pressing problems and needs related to your target niches. Next:

=>> Post PPC/PPM/PPV ads in those Web forums and social groups/networks to promote your onsite content, free product, paid product and affiliate signup pages. That's it. Hope this helps...

What are you giving away in return for the e-mail address?

Have you set up a proper sales funnel and know the conversion rates to expect? Will your target market be suited to a site such as safe-swaps. My results were excellent conversions but no buyers, so I now stay away from swapping my hard earned list for opportunity seekers.

Like others have said, it may be worth buying some solo adverts, but if you don't have a good system in place you could just be throwing good money after bad.

If you have no list, buy some solo ads in safe swaps first until you have 1000 list, then you can do ad swap. Buying solo ad in safe swap is affordable, and you can cover the cost by a high converting OTO. Just make sure your squeeze page is highly converting. Buy a small package first to test your funnel and sellers' list quality. Once you have sellers you trust, buy a larger package.

I agree with buying solo ads, it's by far the quickest way to build up your list. Safe Swaps is a great place to start, but there are also wonderful solo ad providers right here on the forum
Solo ads cost a bit, but the feedback you get from them almost immediately is invaluable. If you can afford it, definitely start there.
Don't overlook the long term strategies, but jump-start things with solo ads!

Choose a niche to build your list in! Take it or leave it but DON'T build your list in IM! Especially using safe swaps!.........people on your list will be on tons of other lists, and you will make very little to no money from that list! Sorry to be blunt, but that is a cold hard fact and for some reason many people ignore it.

What's the point in having 1000's on your list with mega low conversion rates?

Seriously, pick a niche away from IM or weight loss etc, and your list (will be harder to build) will convert so much better!

Everyone needs to think sensibly and be an individual in this business, millions and millions across the world promote IM stuff and many are seasoned pros, you don't stand a chance! Pick a niche and nail it!

Don't wanna be blunt, but if you want to build a list in IM, go ahead, but listening to my advice could save you a lot of time and disappointment!

But how many products you can promote to the list outside IM niche?
      10, 20 or may be 50.
What would you do with your list after that?

But in IM and WeightLoss niche there is a new product everyday.

Yes. Stop looking at it in quantitative terms, and start thinking about the quality of relationships you can build with subscribers by helping people and fulfilling their needs. This approach gives you a chance at building a list that's actually worth something to you, when you've built it. (Looking at it from the perspective of list-swaps and JV's, before you've even built it, gives you no real chance of that, at all).

i personally stay away from ad swaps

i would probably build my list way faster but the quality and open rates of my emails would be a lot worse

if safe swaps work for some then thats cool but i don`t like to spend my hard work building my list of targeted subscribers only to then send them to other lists to spammed 99% of the time from other offers

i have more than enough quality info to send my subs myself without sending them to other lists to get more free info

The more you use very common list building techniques the lower quality your list will be. Unlike others in the thread that suggest you not worry about quantity, I will tell you from experience you can make a both types of lists work.

But they don't work the same way. Walmart does pretty well focusing on quantity and Apple does well focusing on quality. Both work, but you must approach both completely differently from almost every aspect.

The first step is to get people onto a list. The next step is to figure out how to get and hold their attention. If you fail to do the first part, the second part becomes irrelevant.

I have personally been able to monetize "junk" traffic and leads many times over the years. Virtually any list can be a money list.... anyone who tells you otherwise is actually just saying "they" don't understand how to monetize a particular list.

The truth is. you are going to have to get in the game. Asking if others can make a certain method work is not really much help. Many have made money using safe-swaps.com. However that is no way an indicator that YOU can or will make money using that method.

I know of a lot of guitar players that make a lot of money just playing the guitar. However, even though I can play a little, I suspect I would probably end up on the street corner playing for change if that is what I decided to do for my profession.

While it is entirely possible to make money playing the guitar, that probably is not something that is going to work for me, so its irrelevant to my situation that it works for others.

My suggestion to quit talking and start doing. You will make some mistakes and learn a few lessons the hard way, but no amount of talking will prevent that.

Hey man, I don't think you're not wasting money. You're investing money.
Anyways, get a squeeze page up and start driving traffic to it the free way.

Youtube, article marketing, and forum marketing are great places to start.

Firstly you've gotten some GREAT advice already, so I'll add a bit and hopefully you'll get some more ideas to how you can build your list without (or in addition to) ad swaps.

    1. 100% commission sales. Making short reports or video series and offering affiliates all commission can be a great way to get BUYERS on your list. Worth tons more than 'freebie seekers'

    2. Create a free offer WSO. To make your money back for the listing (if you're really strapped for cash) then offer an inexpensive OTO after sign up that complements what you've offered them for free. Sell 4 OTOs at $10, you've easily made back your listing fee, excluding PayPal fees of course

    3. Buy solo ads from trusted sources. Someone already mentioned Reed's directory and review site. It's GOOD. I visited it for the first time yesterday and I could literally take Reed to the best restaurant in this country for it. It's a great resources with detailed reviews about his experience. The best part is, a lot of the one he recommends have small packages that you can buy and test before buying larger packages.

    4. Put your freebie offer as a bonus to others launching. If you're new to everything connect with others that are new...maybe even form a circle. If you have 4 people and each of you launch a different product a month and have each others' back as far as offering each other bonuses, you'll see your list grow in no time.

Okay, so I hope that helps. Hope you grow a healthy, responsive list in record time! I can tell you're ready to take action to make it happen! Kudos!

My first list was with good ole PPC. I covered the cost by promoting affiliate products and my own OTO's. Before you spend any real money you want to make sure you are getting good conversions.

  • You need a long term and short term plan.

Also try to build a targeted list of buyers.

    JV giveaways are good
Personally I don't recommend solo ads any more- too dicey.

The best way to get traffic is to get affiliates to promote your site for you.

    So here is a plan:

Opt-in page for free gift (software or videos or something other than an ebook)
Then have some one time offers so that you and affiliates promoting your product can earn some money.
    Then recruit affiliates.
