In my opinion, yes it is. You don't have to go searching for your traffic. After you build a decent sized list (especially a buyers list), you can earn a couple of bucks for sending out one email. That's not too bad.

You should never buy lists as it's spamming, against the law and you certainly don't want to end up in court. I also get people who put fake email addresses so you should add double opt-in. A good autoresponder is also neccessary.

Don't spam people or do anything like that. You have to build good relationships with the people on your list and you have to provide premium content and good stuff. Don't always provide good stuff as then people will start to expect what is in your emails and they will not click it. Email marketing in my opinion is the best type of advertising you can do... Building the list is the hard part and is what defeats most people... It's really not that hard if you go about it the right way... Think about it, you build that list once and with 1 click of a button you can have 1000's of instant eyeballs looking at your offer at no additional cost... As long as you build a relationship with your list and don't blast them 24/7 with ads it will make you a lot of money... My suggestion would be to look into solo ads and start using that to build your list...

From my personal experience this can be very annoying and will turn off most potential buyers from the get-go. Let people get acquainted with you and what you are about before you make the sales pitch.
