Help in promoting mobile accessory site

I am new to IM and just started marketing a cool new mobile accessory in the UK market. While I am working with someone on SEO work, I want to generate additional traffic through any one or combination of the following: 1) place ads/banners or even better, 2) develop an affiliate marketing programs with complimentary sites 3) Start a limited direct mailing campaign to specific target audiences. At this initial stage I rather pay for successful conversions, before spending money on speculative/guess work on the right data base or sites to place ads with, Since each part is a whole separate marketing tool, can anyone recommend a some practical tips on how to start without spending too much unearned money?
