Great link. Thanks. It is definitely spot on. Viral marketing is all about INFLUENCE. That's why Twitter is such a powerful tool. Even if you have only 10 followers but one of them is being followed by 10 people and one of those has a following of hundreds, your otherwise OBSCURE message can catch on like wildfire. Get your info in front of the right eyeballs. That's why forum marketing, twitter marketing, and linkedin marketing are crucial parts of an effective online marketing plan.

"Just like a physical virus, viral content requires vectors" I cant understand the red marks. What vectors means?

I am also confused "Viral content may be one of the best methods to reach inactive users",how can an inactive may reach?
For success every single must provide a mental labor.Am I wrong? If so please explain me.

Vectors = CARRIER. An anopheles mosquito is a VECTOR for malaria. A rabid dog is a VECTOR for rabies. Get the point? The article is spot on because it focuses on the PEOPLE that carry your idea and spread it to people that find them credible. In essence, you are piggy backing off other people's influence and credibility. It takes a long time to build BRAND CREDIBILITY on the Web. You can shortcircuit that by paying with a relatively inexpensive ticket.

What ticket is that? High quality engaging and analytical CONTENT. Most of the big time blogs out there started out as insignificant blogs that nobody's heard of. By locking into what influential people care about, they catapulted themselves into FAME and FORTUNE. Don't believe me? ask Michael Arrington, Nick Denton, and countless others.

'vectors' would be 'paths to infection'.

In the case of a real virus it needs hosts that transfer the virus to each other. The more contagious the virus, the easier it passes to new hosts and the quicker it spreads.

'Viral content' needs 'vectors' of communication between hosts. The more connections a host has (the 'who'), the more other hosts it can spread to. For example if Jimmy Kimmel tweets about it. The more 'contagious' (funny/shocking/cute) the content, the faster those hosts continue to pass it on.

An 'inactive user' is someone who isn't actively searching for your content or not engaged in your channels (with you or others).

These users can be 'activated' in your channel by receiving your 'virus' (content) from a host who is connected to them in some other way, such as posted on a facebook wall or getting it emailed from a friend, or maybe they were watching Jimmy Kimmel on TV and not even online when they were exposed to it. Or it was talked about at the office.

I don't think it's possible to go viral with anything in IM.

The niche is just not sexy enough.

If you take the most popular viral videos of all time from YouTube you won't find anything from IM.
