Wordpress Q - Hiding certain posts and showing them on another page?

So to put it simply, I run a photo blog site. I have galleries that I post to the main homepage and I like how everything is.. but now I want to expand my website a bit and start writing articles, but I want to keep them separate from the galleries. Basically, I want my visitors to click a link/button that says "Articles" and it takes them to a new page with the exact same design/wordpress posting stuff that the homepage does, but it's simply just articles, no galleries. Am I making sense? I've considered the option of making it a category, but they still show up on the home page. What would be the best way to go about this, and is it even possible?

Sounds to me like this is a theme issue- that your theme is putting all categories on the home page. Usually this can be controlled if the theme uses widgets or other GUI based design to control the display, But you may need to change themes....

It even sounds to me like you may be better off changing to a different theme that is more suited to what you want to do now.

Here are a few good places to start:
    Themes | WooThemes
    WordPress | ThemeForest

There's no point re-inventing the wheel when there are solutions that already do what you need.

So you think my current them is unsuitable for what I'm trying to do? It's fine if you do.. I welcome all constructive criticism.

I have another theme that I bought for about 30 bucks, you can see it utilized in my other website AnimeHorror [dot] com Do you think I should use that theme? I just don't know if it's good for what I want.

I basically want large pictures on the homepage, actually a lot of pictures.. because it IS a photo blog. I went with the magazeen theme because it was very colorful and allowed me to incorporate a lot of pictures but I find myself editing it a lot, and I'm very nick picky.

I think I'm trying way to hard to gimmick sites like thechive etc.. but I kinda wanna do my own thing. If anything I kinda like regretfulmorning's layout, because it allows them to also add articles and stuff, which is what I want. But I also like thechives photo blog layout too. So Idk.

      Any criticism is welcomed.

If I'm understanding you correctly, then all you should have to do is create a new page for your articles and add them to your WP menu.

Pretty much any theme is suitable for that.

Right, but I also want to avoid creating a new page for each article, which is what it seems I have to do in order to hide them from the home page. Also I want them listed like the homepage, except with the article category. Pretty much a brand new wordpress for just the articles essentially. Maybe it's asking for much and a bit difficult, but I am tossing around the idea of changing themes, there's got to be something out there that is close to what I want. Thanks anyways though.

I'm not really "stuck", but I guess my biggest fear about changing themes right now is having to manually edit every one of my 300+ articles. In my current theme, I have to point to a thumbnail picture before I post anything. I guess I just don't want to install a new theme and have to do something stupid like manually point to an image or something, mind you, it is a photo blog, so pictures are very important. But at the same time, I haven't really tried either.. so idk. I think I'm just gonna use the theme I use on my other site, but I need to bust out my old pc to find the .zip file with the theme, I don't really feel like paying for it again, and it's not in my email anymore. :/

it is easy to install a completely separate instance of WordPress, in a folder, which will make a seperate blog, then you can link them in any way you wish, for example, you can put a standard HTML link in a Text Widget on your sidebar or wherever you wish. Obviously, you can choose the same theme for both, so they look the same, and/or customise the same theme so it has the required features for each one.

    Hope that helps
