Building an Online Store?

I have a friend who has come to me asking about building a website. She makes her own bags and some other stuff that she sells offline, and wants to start selling online too.

All of my experience is with information sites, one product sales sites, blogs, and things like that. It's pretty easy to build those. However, it sounds like she wants to set up more of an online store type of thing. She doesn't have a lot of products right now but they are expanding.

She has her domain and hosting (hostgator) and wants to know what she should use to build the site. Im guessing she wants something free or cheap.

Any suggestions?

    For a free, easy-to-use shopping cart, it doesn't get much easier than Mals (if she can accept Paypal as payment). It doesn't involve a database on your site (such as with OSCommerce, ZenCart, etc). Rather, you create the product info & pricing in the links to the cart itself.

    This makes it very easy then to create a website using plain HTML or even Wordpress. Simply describe the products, include photos, & link to the cart at Mal's.

    You can use wordpress and add a plugin WP Shopping Cart from WordPress e-Commerce Plugin a WordPress Shopping Cart Plugin by Instinct

    Another way is to use OSCommerce if you want a full pledge ecommerce site.
