If you are able to get the items for a discount and sell them for more that is the way to go. eBay's prices stay pretty much the same, so make sure you can get a better deal than that. Also, make sure you factor in Paypal, EBay, and shipping fees to make sure you are still making a profit!

    Good luck!

Every February I stock up on odds and ends in your category, specifically the sub category of skateboards and accessories. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm the person behind several of the Hong Kong and mainland China based eBay accounts that are selling items for prices cheaper than you can get it for. I usually hold a good portion of the sales market for international buyers, but you could bypass me in a non-competition way by buying at researched rates from select distributors and sell everything based on your data. (IE: Knowing exactly how many of a certain brand of a skateboard sells within a 60 or 90 day time frame, and buying that many and undercutting your local competition by at least 1%) I don't recommend starting off with boards because of the amount of designs, instead go after accessories and then start selling items that differentiate based on design. Your sales volume in accessories can carry your business while you make a higher profit on individual items that won't sell very often such as specific boards and even clothing.

I can show you the basics for free.

Also, this isn't a heavy inventory investing business. Most retailers buy low amounts of inventory, even top retail stores don't buy much very often. There are a lot of vendors looking to get their products on shelves, usually people similar to yourself you have a genuine interest in skateboarding but don't have the strongest business sense. If you ever head to the ASD AMD tradeshows in vegas, you'll find them all over the place. This is a heavy dropshipping/low MOP (minimum order purchase) business, and your target market of potential buyers are people who buy a lot of inexpensive items and not higher cost/high quality items. Find the cheapest wheel bearings of the season, invest in X amount of those and sell. Find the cheapest pro boards, sell those. Cheapest trucks, cheapest tape, etc. The market of vendors have killed themselves to make sales.

Because I'm not a local within the "western markets" and you are - I recommend giving some stuff away to really good skaters on youtube as long as they promote your online store (once you start one beyond the eBay platform). Perhaps look into getting involved with the communities as much as possible if you haven't already.
