Hi everyone

I have had an article on Ezinearticles since Saturday and it has 570 views with 270 url clicks and 3 sales.
No one has clicked on it today and I was checking out my competition and this article had over 900,000 views bloody hell how do they do that?
It looks like my article wont get anymore views how do I bump it up? and almost a million views how does that happen it didnt look much better than mine.

    Hi Marcus

Your article has done very well. I think you should find that it will continue to do well for quite a while yet.

I have one article that has performed similarly to the one you mention but i can see no reason for it.

It is just a quirk or fluke. You cannot legislate and plan these results. You just hope that you land a few of these profitable articles.

Cheers for the replies guys, just wondered why my hits suddenly dropped off as I am not sure how I got regular hits for the last few days then it stopped. The way it was going I thought I would be getting thousands of hits.
Does the article just disappear as the days go on?

    cheers

And yet he simply just got lucky, there was no special technique. Sometimes the search engines will be really quirky like that.

As an example, my first ever Wordpress blog was just a general cool/fun stuff blog. I wrote an article about Vida Guerra's ass (no kidding!) and for a year after I got 500 hits a day for people searching on Vida Guerra. I did not even have any backlinks, just blogged and pinged.

Sometimes the SEs do crazy things and there is no way to recreate such a result again and again.
It's not pure luck with the ones that know what they are doing...

You really need to pay attention to everything and then you will

If you honestly believe this then you need to look a little bit deeper

I'm not just talking out of my ass here either. There are strategies that people use to make this part of their regular routine. Sure, it is often not discussed, but it does happen. In our coaching program I proved it to about 5 people that happened to be in a conference room with us at the time...

Did I tell them how it was done? no...But, they now know that it can be done

      Well,

I'm not necessarily saying that anyone's doing anything blackhat over at EA, but...I do have to question how one person would LEGITIMATELY get hundreds of thousands of views. To be blunt, I kinda doubt it, because I've seen some very mediocre articles on there with a ridiculous amount of page views.

In my opinion, gaming the system over there to get a ridiculous amount of page views is simply not worth the risk of being banned from there. EA is a highly valuable resource.

Oh, and Marcus, seriously, those are GREAT article results - they would make any article marketer proud.

My experience over at EA is that the articles do drop off in traffic, and frankly, you need to keep feeding the article beast to maintain that level of traffic.

      3 possibilities:

      1. Pure SEO: Theres one article with over 1,000,000 views, the author pumped over 10,000 backlinks.
      2. Fake Impression
      3. Luck

There are ways to boost readership but they entail doing some hefty backlinking. Find high rank sites that Google links, like Blogs, and submit a post with backlinks to your article on EA instead of to your own site.

As far as EA goes, the articles stay on page 1 until sufficient articles have been submitted to push it down onto page 2 and beyond. I don't think EA allows it, but some article sites give you the option of bidding for first page exposure over a period of time. IdeaMarketers does that.

I don't know if EA keeps your article higher in the pages if you are getting a lot of views but it might. EA wants recognition from Google and if you have an article getting lots of clicks, it would make sense for EA to give your article more exposure on their pages.

Just so you know if you get alot of views of your article it will be placed in the most viewed section that is at the bottom of the page when you read any article on their site. And that keeps generating views, click throughs, and sales.

I haven't hit that magic article yet but I believe Jeremy is right and need to learn how to do it myself.

Marcus your numbers are EXCELLENT, just keep writing and you'll make alot more sales.

Put your Statcounter tracking code on your download page.

Use Statcounter to check your visitor path.

There is an option on the left in your profile - 'Visitor Path'

This will show you the path your buyer has taken/travelled.

Marcus, your article stats are really good, just try and publish some more like that and you will keep making sales, also articles stick around so you may make some sales from that 1 article in the months or even years to come.

As you said 3 sales since saturday is not too shabby if I do say so myself. I actually just read your other thread about not making money at this and looks like you have taken some of the ideas fellow warriors gave you, drew up a plan and implemented it and you are now starting to move in the right direction.

All I can say is well done, sounds like you have taken action.

    To your success,

Great suggestion by Dana, you can get some great results on views by doing a lot of backlinking. If you google and find high ranking sites that Google likes such as blogs, and post a message with backlinks to your article you can boost up your views that way as well. Its always better to get people linking to your articles from external sources, thereby boosting your backlinks and views at the same time. Hope this helps!

Please people don't listen to anything Jeremy has to say, that way I will have less competition when I implement the great advice that he gives.

Seriously, he knows what he's talking about and if you're smart you will listen. Or you could just do whatever the hell you want and wonder why some people get results.

Some articles have high page views simply because of luck. Some because they "gamed the system", some because people carefully selected their keywords and put some effort into gaining quality backlinks for their articles.

Guess which way works best and most consistently.

That maybe a hot timely topic article. And perhaps there are no related articles to compete it. An article should consider the relevance and timing. I believe that is how it is to be visited by a massive traffic.

When you look on the most popular articles page at EZA you will notice that all on the list are from 2005-2007. It takes alot of time for most articles to get that many views... the most viewed ever article there has over 1 million views.. since 2005.

Yeah but people are crapping on what you have to say insisting that the only way to get good results with articles is through luck and demanding to see proof if you claim otherwise.

If that's what they want to do, I don't have a problem with that but I think people should do themselves a favor and listen to what you have to say.

Well, no offense, but listening to his claims without proof or details aren't much help. It may as well be due to luck. Who really cares if something can be done if no one reveals how to do it? Listening to what he has said in this thread won't help one person write an article that gets a million views. It's like saying you know how to get a number one ranking every time, but you're not going to tell. Well, good for you, but that doesn't help anyone.

And for the record, not saying anyone is obligated to reveal anything they don't want to reveal.

No one does anything "everytime". But I don't give a damn. It's not hurting me if people think the only way to get good results with there articles is to get lucky.

1 million views for an article, good for him. Frankly, I am guessing that I know this guy who did it. If he can duplicate it for other articles, I will then concede that he is good. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

It is possible for you to hit that kind of figures if you enter into new and hot niches where folks have not entered to compete with you. But 1 million an article is not something you can duplicate easily.

I have tons of articles that are in the range of 50,000 to 100,000 views which is doable with the right keyword density and content uniqueness. Plus, some secret juice.

From my own testings and experience, it is much more achievable to grab top rankings and high page views over time if you enter into new niches. Like what I said, where no one has threaded upon before.

If you are into a current hot niche with some tough competition, it is still possible but more challenging. In such markets, I will look at the overall demand. If it is huge enough, it simply means that there will still be gems to dig and not all longtails have been harvested.
