When talking about backlinks..

What exactly does pinging do?

And what about meta submission? Using a free tool from the War Room...and meta submission takes FOREVER. Why is this?

    Pinging is a process that notifies a network of other web properties of your 'backlink', this is supposed to increase any given backlinks ability of getting indexed, building additional backlinks to these pinged backlinks can increase their longevity of sticking.

    Of course, I haven't done SEO in awhile because I've delved into other methods of generating traffic, and also there are so many variables that; nothing can guarantee a link getting indexed/sticking/being-worth-a-crap, but I have had great success doing this in the past.

    Not sure what a "meta submission" is bud.

    Pinging is just a way to let the search engines know that you have updated some piece of information, and that the web crawlers need to come and check it out and update the search engines to reflect this change. Certain platforms like Wordpress automatically ping the search engines when you update your site, so thing is no need to do it through a pinging service.

    In simple terms, pinging your website is a way of waving a flag to the search enginers and saying, "Hey! I'm here! I've updated my site with new content! Check it out!"

    Pinging helps you get your backlinks indexed much more faster and also notifies the search engine spiders that your site has been updated with new content

      I use linklicious.me to get links and my own posts indexed. It's free and it tells you exactly when the Google bot came by to index the item you listed.

      It's also great for seeing what Google does not index. Many spammy links you can buy in bulk never get visited. Examples are junky forum posts, automatic approval article directories and link farm bookmarking sites. At least according to Linklicious the Google bot never even bothers with these. And of course I'm not saying all forums and articles directories and bookmarking sites get ignored. The more familiar ones definitely get visited and quickly but it's interesting to see what gets bypassed altogether.

      And of course I take this tool with a grain of salt as well, but the premise seems reliable enough. Be interested to know if others also use linklicious.me
