Is it smart to promote on your membership mailing list?

If you have a membership site I would like to know if it is smart to promote to them other products through email? I mean they are already paying you every month wouldnt it seem like you are greedy?

It depends upon whether the products you intend to
promote to them will ADD VALUE to their lives.

If the products will add real value to your members,
then you would be doing them a dis-service by not
    letting them know about them.

Never promote products that only benefit you. Only
ever promote products because they will truly benefit
your members. If you benefit in the process too, then
    that's a bonus.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

OK ill keep that in mind. See the thing is I remeber reading somewhere that if you dont promote to you list regularly and you just sent them newsletters they will get used to that and the minute you sell something it wont work because they wont be used to you selling anything to them, Is this true?

At this rate I feel like ill just be promoting for the heck of it because I dont want to end up with a non responsive list. I mean I will be providing as much value as possible through my membership site.

It is a tricky one, but for sure, the more quality content you mail your list, the higher the level of trust will be especially if they can apply some of what youve shared with them and they can see the results for themselves.

As Shaun has already said, you really cannot promote anything other than items that will benefit your list.

One thing I had done with one of my lists was get them to email me with the main problem they faced and only one problem per subscriber and then did a ballot from all the responses, whichever was highest got addressed first, either with me re producing my own content into a downloadable guide, purchasing plr product and improving it to a near perfect item or finding the best marketers product for that topic and then cross sell it to them. Either way, I was providing specific content to what they were asking for, for each one I added a small OTO which was a skype consultation call or they could have the usual email support at no charge.

Whichever way you do it, dont burn your list by promoting the poor new clickbank releases.

    Best of luck,
    Steve

I think it's a great idea to promote other products to them. Since you built a solid relationship with them, they'll be more likely to trust and hence, purchase the products that you recommend
