Hi Worriors

I was going to setup a paypal buy now button on my sales letter to get paid for my first digital product but the problem is that when i setup the button from my paypal account i cant find an option that let me specify where to redirect the custmer when he make a successful purchase (in my case: the thank you page that let him download the product)

So what do you suggest to solve this issue?

    I am not able to recall the exact procedure. But i hope you should go to additional options area when you create the buy now button.

      You need to click the "Add More Options" button at the bottom of the page.

      After that you'll see the box to change the "Successful Payment URL" page. Make sure you click the "Edit" button next to that box so you can change the default value.

      Once you're done setting all the options, click the "Create Button Now" button at the bottom of the page.

          You can redirect them to a 'success' page when they've paid and also a sort of 'failed' page when they choose to click back to your site instead of completing the transaction at Paypal.

          You can easily add these two fields to your button:

          <input type='hidden' name='return' value='http://www.yourdomain.com/success.html'>
          <input type='hidden' name='cancel_return' value='http://www.yourdomain.com.failure.html'>

          Cheers,

          Neil

            This is great advice. The only thing I would strongly suggest is that you use PayPal's encrypting feature for your button if you're not using a payment processor like Linklok Paypal, or DLGuard.

            You might know this already, but if you don't, both are worth the price and affordable, and it will protect your downloads and keep your return/download pages out of eyeshot of thieves.

            Is there a way to "edit" a buy/donate button after it's been created? I've never been able to find a link for that . . .

              I don't know if you can do it from within your PayPal account, but you can (or at least could, when I last did it) edit the raw code (the code that you download to create your PayPal button on your website).

              Regards,
              Jeff.

              If you're using encrypted buttons (which you should be unless you have good reason not to), then NO, there is no way to edit a button after it's been created. You just have to recreate it.
