Deleting old content to put on my new website, What does Google think?

So I have a few articles I've written on my old blog that I would like to use on my new site. If I delete this content from the old blog and move it to my new blog, will Google penalize me for duplicate content.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Don't take my word for it, but I believe so. I thought about doing the same thing, but I'm pretty sure that Google doesn't de-index a lot of content so odds are that your old, deleted content will still be indexed (even though you deleted it) and will be registered as duplicate content on your new site.

At least that's what I told myself when I was in the same situation.... I could be mistaken

I love the bit when he gets to duplication on the royal monarchy website - does that mean the Queen is being penalised by Google?!!! I have images of her at the keyboard going "Philip, I just can't understand why we are not No 1 on Google". Hee Hee.

I 301ed the content from the old blog to the new one.

I used: Simple 301 Redirects Plugin for Wordpress | Scott Nelle.com

If you use that one, make sure you do a version with and w/out WWW version.
