A Product idea, has anyone done this before? Should they?

You always see 1 week or 1 month case studies but has anyone ever gone for a 1 year case study. Recorded a video or wrote a paragraph every day for 1 year. Showed the accounts before and after, showed exactly what they did each day. I think it would be an awesome idea for a product if you could do it, "£300 in my bank to £100,000 in 1 year. Video proof" something like that, then sell it for a high price, I reckon it would do well, has anyone done this before?

Thoughts?

To be host, don't think anyone would like to view 365 videos, to learn internet marketing. You could do something like this every month instead, but then when you go on to sell it people will worry if it's still up to date.

I would be more inclined to buy a product with that proof

Yes if you do have a plan starting now for the next 12 months, you might do a montly video of your results, but make sure you focus on the trategies and not on the techniques as the techniques keeps changing every so often

Most people are looking to speed up product creation, not slow it down to a year-long endeavour....

I think the small benefit of long term results would not offset the loss of taking a year to do research.

Also, the longer your research time, the more at risk you are that details of implementation will change.

Do you know how many SEO WSO's had 98 pages of padding, but relied 100% on "Build My Rank" for their actual "results".

Read them now and it's... Use KW rich Title, Description and in your URL then backlink using BMR.

    Bang you're on page one.

How many of those WSOs still work without the "BMR" component? Not many.

Depends on the target market I guess. People here want a full functioning business in a week, not a year.

That being said, if the amount of money was significant and the content was condensed enough I'd be interested.

It sounds like a good idea to me, but I agree that not many people would like to watch 365 videos or read 365 articles in a month..
You can write an e-book and sell it, it will be more useful for your customers.

What I would recommend is that you have an up-front "getting started" portion to your product and then sell a back-end membership site where the main content is a day-by-day or weekly "look over my shoulder" view on different strategies or techniques.

These have worked very well in the past and we run our own membership somewhat that way.

For example, let's say your sub-niche is Getting Traffic...you sell a product with a focus of getting your first (or next) 200/day visitors to your website and then offer a $27-$47/month or $397/yr membership site where you try a different (advanced) technique each week showing results...you can extend this thinking to almost any niche.

I probably wouldn't buy it as a product personally. It might make an interesting blog though. Problem is, tons of IMers start blogs like that and never finish.
